Great place with amazing hosts
Phil and Dianne were absolutely great. If you are looking for great value for money, look no further. The site has a simple cabin with two “bedrooms” that are separated from a small main sitting area by curtains. There is a futon and plenty of chairs. Our 6 yr old daughter loved that she got her own big bed and we were very comfortable. The windows of the cabin overlook the river and it was incredibly peaceful; the sunrise over the water was magical. A small trail leads down to a clearing separated from the water by a high bank where we were able to hang our hammocks and enjoy a peaceful afternoon. There’s a compost toilet and Phil and Dianne let us use the shower in their house. Apples, pears and tomatoes were available for us to pick off the nearby orchard and garden, along with fresh herbs. There’s a nice spot where they have a fire ring set up, complete with a grill for you to cook on with plenty of chairs. There’s electricity in the cabin and they provide a hose to wash dishes and brush teeth. They also provided some drinking water (they offered more but we had brought our own). Their place is about an hour from Toledo, where we were able to take our daughter to the zoo for the day. The next morning Phil joined us for our campfire breakfast and took us on a tour of the farm. Our daughter enjoyed meeting the steers and feeding Miss Piggy. Their dog, Hymie, hung out with us and played. If you’re looking for a chill place and like to meet new people, come here! Phil and Dianne are lovely and personable and this was a great family vacation!
Insist on photos and an aerial.
You should insist on seeing photos and an aerial view of this place before you go there. It's nowhere near the interstate. It's some shacks. It's cramped and scary and we took one look at it and kept driving.
Phil and Diane are the NICEST people you could ever meet. Very welcoming, open, and courteous. They have so much wonderful land to explore, and a GREAT pig who is so so sweet! Phil allowed us to milk the goats, and it was such a treat! I had such a great time I’m definitely considering coming back to WOOF with them to learn more!
Cozy little cottage on a very cool farm. The cottage is minimal but comfy, with lots of pillows, blankets and fans to keep cool in warmer weather.
Phil showed us around on his cart and explained all the different methods they use on the farm. We also met his dog, pigs, goats and cows, and got a goat milking lesson. Exploring the farm with Phil was such a treat and Diane was welcoming and so helpful—it was such a pleasant experience.
