45 minutes from Columbus, Ohio! We sit 7 minutes off of I-71 just outside of Fredericktown, Ohio, but we never hear the highway. Our farm makes the perfect weekend escape from the big city or a great big breath of fresh air for the traveler coming by!

Rolling meadows with lots of privacy on a operating regenerative farm. Visit animals like never before. Experience peace and serenity among our secluded and private campsites.

As a working farm we also have a farm store with great hot dogs, brats and breakfast supplies that we raise right here in the farm.

Our farm is in constant grazing rotation. Sometimes specific sites are not available because the grass is several feet tall ready for grazing. We will provide a site with shorter grass. Rubber boots are a great item to bring along for hiking around and seeing morning chores on the farm.

Choose from one of 5 camp sites on the farm. All of them are set up in secluded locations away from each other.

Site 1. The Giant Oak: The farm has a gigantic oak tree. This site sits under it's huge span. If only trees could talk, but even with out the stories this site makes for a wonderful experience.  Site access requires a suv or a small hike. Either way it's worth the visit.

Site 2. Riverside: This site over looks the Kokosing river. It is more remote and may require some hiking depending on soil condition. But don't let that scare you. If you like water or fishing this site would be perfect.

Site 3. The Grove: Easily accessible by all cars. The Grove has a wonderful sunset view and sits along a grove of tree. Easy access to a private outhouse and close access to the public restroom make The Grove a great location for those that want easy access to a camp site.

Site 4. The Shade Lot: If a beautiful sunset view is for you this site gives just that along with easy access to shade trees along the woods. this site is perfect for exploring the farm. Access to a primitivize out house is about 100 yds away. Access by vehicle is available most of the year.

Site 5.  Woods Edge: Sits along our 8 acres of trees. Woods Edge provides a great view of the sunset. It sits at the furthest point from the farm house, but it is very accessible by vehicle most of the year.  This site has access to a primitive outhouse. Also great for larger gatherings.

Recent update: We are now maintaining a path to the Kokosing river. The end of the path leads to a small gravel/sand bar along the river. Depending on the water height there are some great wading pools and play date opportunities.

A Note on our farm store: We raise all of our meats here on the farm. We have them frozen fresh to preserve all of the flavor and nutrition. We recommend a complete thaw before cooking. If you are after a particular meal on your night of arrival, we can help you out by setting your cut in the fridge to thaw ahead of time.

Sweet grass was a unique stay for us. We are usually pretty secluded when we camp. That’s not to say your camping spot won’t feel private while you’re there, though. We had more than enough space for ourselves and our two hounds. We stayed in site #4 and loved it!

It was nice to have lots of places to walk around and explore. The farm store is great and we highly recommend the breakfast bundle! We brought home some cream, too. Perfect for coffee!

We will definitely be back. Thanks for the great stay!

So much fun! Beautiful, secluded, and way better than a public campground. We did the farm animal tour as well and our kids were thrilled!

Sweet Grass is a wonderful place to camp! We stayed at site 4 and it was a great space for my kids to roam the woods and walk around. There is a picnic table and trash can at the site, and the outhouse is about 50 yards away. The sunsets were gorgeous and you can see the Milky Way above at night. My kids loved getting a tour from Heidi. The farm store is great to stock up on fresh eggs, cheeses, yogurt, meats (hot dogs and breakfast sausage for camp meals!) and fun offerings like fresh apple cider and kombucha! I recommend taking an easy walk to the big oak tree and river and relaxing around there. Jacob and his family are incredibly gracious hosts and we are very thankful for them sharing their farm.

My family had a wonderful time here. Our site was clean and felt remote. We enjoyed the Heidi tour, wading in the river and seeing all of the beautiful farm animals. We also spent and afternoon under a huge oak tree. The farm's approach to working and living with the land was remarkable--we stocked up on meats and dairy from the camp store before we left. Overall, totally recommended.

Staying at Sweetgrass was the perfect weekend get away. I ambitiously reserved a site near the river to allow the kids and dog to play. Recent heavy rains made the drive to the site a sketchy one in our school bus RV. Host Jacob easily had an alternate site our vehicle could reach, which was beautifully situated next to a tree line at the rear of a future grazing pasture. We were still able to find some water to fish and play a 12 min. drive away at the Kikosing River. Our family had a picturesque view of cows grazing and the farmhouse and silos in the distance. Evening sunsets and morning fog provided tranquility and peace. Jacob was accomodating, offering to mow the site, as the grass was quite tall (in preparation for the cows). (Our originally reserved site was mowed prior to our arrival.) We opted to just drive over the site to flatten the grass instead of dealing with wet clippings. That worked well for us and the cattle!
I am so excited to have found this farm. They provide products I have been searching for so long: pasture raised meat, eggs, produce and milk without preservatives or additives. Pastures are rotated. This is how it's done right! We bought all of our fire wood for camp from the farm store, and loaded our cooler with meat purchased there upon departure. Conveniently, they even offer delivery of their products to Columbus! I would highly recommend this campsite.
