It was a beautiful and relaxing drive out to Deer Spring in Magnolia. Just southeast of Canton, Ohio is this beautiful farm of 40 acres. The host, Kevin, had his head under the hood of his jeep working when we arrived and he had a big smile for us. He’s a gentle man along with his two dogs and handful of hens.
His property is down a long gravel driveway. Just keep driving until you get to the two houses and his big work shed. There are many places to camp here and he will let you camp just about anywhere you like. Our van had too low of clearance to drive up and out over the knoll so we made camp near his house. But if you are tent camping, Kevin will take you on a joy ride on his tractor and deliver you and all your stuff where the view is incredible. He took us on a tractor ride all over his property telling us stories reaching as far back as when he was 12 years old helping his grandmother cut black walnut trees! He also carves large logs with his chainsaw into all sorts of things: people, animals, large chairs. If you are interested, he will give you a demo!
We highly recommend spending a night here if you are in the area. The property is gorgeous and Kevin is a gem! His property is also not far from the Westbrook Trail Head, if you want to explore the area even more.

Deer Spring was a beautiful campsite. Kevin will meet you at the entrance, and lead you and your car up a steep hill and down to where the campsite rests in a valley. There was a picnic table under a blooming dogwood tree, a delicate pond with tadpoles, and woods all around where deer and birds reside. This campsite is very private - you have this spot surrounded by hills all to yourself. There is only one campsite, and no views of neighbors or other guests. It's quiet and peaceful. Climb the hills for a gorgeous view of the sunset. Connect with nature in the woods.

Kevin was an excellent host, gave a nice overview of the area and what to expect while camping there. There is cell reception at the site; he was both generous with any questions/concerns, and respectful of space and privacy during the stay.

You will be able to drive a car directly to the campsite; there are branches and logs in the woods for a fire, but you'll need to chop firewood with a saw and hatchet provided by Kevin; bring your own drinking water.

Highly recommended - a beautiful place to visit. Thanks for the wonderful vacation!

I took my two nephews on their first camping trip to Deer Spring this weekend and we all had an absolutely wonderful time. This farm is just beautiful and expansive in all directions. I lost count how many times I've been camping in all over Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Kentucky, and this place was among the best places I've ever camped at.

Our host Kevin was very friendly and helpful. He brought us a bunch of firewood and a portable toilet. He gave us a nice history of the 40-acre farm and we got to see the creative chainsaw carving he created from wood.

During our trip we saw deer, chickens, geese, colorful butterflies everywhere, big hawks flying around the sky, frogs and big tadpoles in the ponds, and a family of twelve ducks that walked through our campsite both nights at exactly 9:30pm.

I honestly couldn't recommend Deer Springs highly enough. I live in Cleveland and sometimes forget there are such wonderful places like this in Ohio. To me, this farm was like paradise, and it looked like something out of a movie. Kevin's hospitality and the scenery made for a very memorable trip, and I'm sure my nephews will also remember this campout for the rest of their lives.

This was my second time camping at Deer Spring, and again I had a great time. Two beautiful, big thunderstorms came through and I loved every minute of it. Again, Kevin was a great host and was very helpful. I had a great spot for my tent on top of a hill underneath trees that had a great view in every direction. What a great place to spend a weekend.

We arrived and drove up a hill to our campsite where we were met by our host Kevin as he was finishing mowing our site. The site we stayed at sat on top of the hill over looking a valley . Kevin explained the lay out of his property, asked if there was anything we needed and then left back down the hill to his home. Private setting and beautiful view we enjoyed this very much and will be back again before the summer is up.

Our host Kevin was awesome! He gave us wonderful directions to drive directly to our campsite. After setting up camp, we walked our dogs down to his house to meet. He gave us a tour of his property and gave us some background information about the farm and his family. He is an amazing artist and showed us some his chainsaw carvings. He uses trees right from the property and makes huge whimsical sculptures. The site was very secluded and peaceful. We chose to set up our tent on a hill and even though it was hot, we were well shaded and felt a breeze the whole time. There are beautiful rolling Meadows everywhere you look and the landscape is dotted with wildflowers and butterflies. There are many mowed areas to take a stroll and if you need something from town it is only a few minutes away.

Kevin was very nice and the camp site was perfect. A great view of the hills and a great plot of land to set up. I would recommend to anyone looking for some time away from everything.
