The campsite is in an open meadow on our 5 acre property, next to the ruins of what was one of the oldest barns in the county (there are still some beautiful stone walls left). You will be surrounded by trees and the spot is completely private. Directly across the road from our property (a 5 minute walk) is the Little Miami Scenic Trail, the third longest paved trail in the US (amazing for biking). The unique village of Yellow Springs is only a 5 minute drive away with a great local grocery store and several cafes. Included in this campsite is access to our 1830s spring house if you want a refreshing dip! If you would like to visit our chickens or Angie's pottery studio in the barn, just let us know and we'd love to show you around. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE BOOKING.
Notes: 1) We are still building a compost toilet so the option on the property now is to dig a cat hole at least 6" deep. There is an open public toilet in Yellow Springs and several businesses with open bathrooms. 2) The spring house is not secluded, you can see it from our driveway. We regularly let it drain and it fills itself up. Water level depends on rainfall. It is cold but perfect for hot days! 3) The campsite is right off of Route 68. You cannot see cars from the site but you can hear them. The amount of noise from cars is very low at night. 4) The meadow is ideal for tent camping, though it is NOT a built campsite so it is not perfectly level throughout. 5) For camper vans: we do allow camper vans (not RVs) but please note when it rains it can get very muddy. No camper vans have been stuck in the meadow due to rain/mud, but it has happened to an RV and hence we do not accept RVs at our site. 6) We are in the process of removing scrap metal from the barn ruins and hence there is a pile of scrap metal collected along one edge of the site that is currently visible. It should be completely removed by May 1, 2021.

Great location close to Yellow Springs! We had service the whole time which was really nice, and i liked the enclosed campsite so we could best keep track of everything and not feel like we were so close to the main road. The site itself is small and right next to the property of the family living there, but plenty of room for a couple big tents. We feel like the spring bath was advertised poorly as to what it was/how it is kept up which was the main disappointment of the trip. The only other complaint was that the family was outside and loud pretty early in the mornings when they knew that we were staying there then and it was disrupting. Other than that it was a great trip!! We had a wonderful time here!!
Beautiful spot in great town
Beautiful spot - a nice flat clearing encircled by wildflowers. A easy 5 minute drive into Yellow Springs. The camping spot is also right along the stellar Little Miami Bike Trail - next time we visit we will bring our bikes to get into town. We visited during an arts festival and had a blast. Would recommend the breakfast at Underdog Cafe! Great hiking spots all around. I was partial to the waterfalls in the Glen Helen Nature Preserve. We will definitely be back and have shared the spot with some friends.
My first use of Hipcamp, what a wonderful experience! Even stopped again on my way back! Such a sweet family, made me feel so welcome, and cooling off in the spring was such a refreshing way to start the day! Campsite was clean, private, quiet. Great night's sleep, both stays. Thank you so much Angie & family!
Lovely, little, private meadow. Dipping in the cold spring washed away the long day driving cross country and allowed my daughter and I to immediately feel refreshed and connected to the place and nature around us. Yellow Springs is lined with old houses with lovely gardens, not too manicured or precious though. Lively place and good choice of restaurants and cafes for such a small town! We arrived a bit too late to visit the studio, but hope there will be another time!
