We are a Mangalitsa farm in The Smoky Mountains of western NC The entire property is oriented toward private farmland views and surrounding mountains. It's really quite remarkable to be so accessible yet feel so remote.

NOTE:    RV campers please consider our alternate listing Smoky Mtn Mangalitsa River Camp if the more remote sites listed here are not appealing or accessible for your size vehicle.

Several campsite options exist for tent camping. We are a 95 acre working farm raising the wooly Mangalitsa pig on a half mile of river that offers serenity in a pocket of wilderness 1 mile off of I40. The property is rolling pasture with forest stands, three streams as well as trails and farm roads for hikes leading to 360 vistas. Four horses, two adopted burros and six goats round out the charm.

HOW TO FIGURE YOUR NIGHTLY RATE

The per night rate is for each vehicle and we charge for EVERY vehicle that is in your group. Rates are higher on holidays and weekends.

Each vehicle grants the admission of four campers. Extra persons beyond four (in one vehicle) are $5/person per night.

If your group has two vehicles this grants you 8 guests.

Additional person fees apply when you exceed the number allotted per vehicle.  Select a $5 fee for each person for each night.  For example, 2 extra people for 3 nights is a total of $30.

EXAMPLE

Vehicle 1 for two nights (at $35/night) with 4 campers = $70

Vehicle 2 for two nights (at $35/night) with 5 campers $70 plus (one extra person staying two nights)  $5 plus $5 = $80

Booking Total for this example = $150

If you have questions i.e.. Infants, extra cars, groups of teenagers etc. Please DO NOT HESITATE to ask Catherine directly. We assure you we aim to please.

Checking in before 5pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangement. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult. Please contact Catherine directly so we can check you in safely and accommodate your schedule.

Tent campers can park vehicles close to Sites 1, 2, 3, and 6 or hike and camp at more remote spots including a sweeping mountain view (pictured in the photo with the young rider on a black horse) or creek-side waterfall spot.

These sites offer parking within a few yards of camping, firepits (your first bundle of firewood is complimentary when you book three nights or more) and access to port-a-john. Each Site has a 4x4 "coffee table" for eating, cooking and putting your feet up!

Site 1 RAPIDS is riverside, opposite the horse pasture and four-board fence and envelops you in the sound of rushing water. Gentle grassy slopes lead to the water's edge while views across the river are of rugged forest and cattle. Build a fire and enjoy the eagles, turtles and cranes that grace the river. Sun & shade. Suited for two cars or one car and small mini trailer.

Site 2 HEISMAN'S HUT is creek side on Dawn Branch and is named after our number one 500 pound Mangalitsa boar. Why is he number 1? He's 500 pounds, I'll let him tell you! This is a small grassy meadow with options for sun and shade within steps of the running creek. Gently moving babbling water and firelight set the stage for your night with friends. Suited for several cars, campers and cars with trailers.

Site 3 CREEKSIDE is creek side on Dawn Branch and is accessed through our bamboo pasture. It is a grassy pasture spot along the tree lined creek that is beautifully shaded in Summer afternoons. This location allows for easy access to the back portion of the property. An afternoon walk up the hill or through the woods with a bottle of wine is rewarded with 360 views (pictured with young rider on the black horse) of the stunning Smoky Mountains. Later, crystal clear running water back at your campsite will refresh your soul and lull you to sleep. Suited for several cars, campers and cars with trailers.

Site 4 HILLTOP is a site for true 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles only. This site offers 360 views in the north corner of our property.  The boundary fence to the adjacent property is barbed wire with cattle often on the other side.  The drive to the site is through grass pasture, a short dirt road, through 2 bogs ( small wet areas) then up a grass road and sloping pasture.  The ground is sloping grass pasture with incredible views.  This area is flexible in that you can tuck into the trees or stay high on the hill. Please look at Instagram Drift Club Hipcamp for a 360 video. Suited for several cars.

Site 5 LOWER HILLTOP is a site for true 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles only.  This site is down the hill from Site 4 on a flat landing next to the boundary fence and a tree.  The views are 270. Suited for two cars only.

Site 6 MEADOW is in a cool and quiet grassy meadow nestled in the horse-shoe bend of Dawn Branch Creek.  Water and nature engulf this spot~ it is truly a splendid setting!  See picture labeled "Site 6 MEADOW. Suited for several cars.

Site 7 FOREST EDGE is our most private site and is a walk-in site.  It is our only 2 wheel car accessible site that offers long range mountain views!  A flat grassy spot that is on the edge of old growth forest on one side and our interior fencing on the other.  The view is amazing and the site is shaded in the summer afternoons.  The walk is 145 paces from the car park.  A porta john is a long walk or drive down the hill. Ask Catherine for more details.  Look for pictures marked 7 Forest Edge.  Suited for two cars.

We have a livestock guardian dog named Stetson on property that roams freely to ward off coyotes and other predators   He is a very large, sweet and friendly dog that we rescued two years ago. He will come say hello but shouldn’t be a nuisance to you. Please refrain from hugging him or grabbing his collar as he was abused in his early years.  He will happily redecorate your campsite should you leave your garbage out. (Smiling) Please don’t hesitate to contact us if he’s a nuisance.

YOUR DOG MUST BE ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES PLEASE. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR DOG'S WELFARE AND WE APPRECIATE YOUR UNDERSTANDING.

We stayed 3 nights + never left the farm. We loved wandering the picturesque property, taking in sunset under the big white oak, and piddling in the river + creek. The "river" campsite was so peaceful + semi- private. We loved meeting the hosts, Catherine + Rick, and their dog, Stetson. Stetson is a big dog who likes to sneak butter when he visited our camp! He made himself right at home + joined our dogs like he was the gentle boss of the pack. Catherine was such a gracious host + we loved to hear her share her + Rick's passion for stewarding the property, raising mangalitsa for food, and being conscientous camp hosts! Our family took Catherines tour of her paddocks + we got to feed pigs + buy their amazing pork products. We had such a pleasant stay!! We already booked our next stay + the river site is now one of our favorite places to camp.

We are so honored that you chose to camp with us for your birthday and appreciate your generous and thoughtful review of your stay! Thank you also for participating in the farm tour and your many many purchases. I loved getting to know you all and look forward to your next stay. Please let us know if there's anything we might do to make it even more special!

Review

Staying at Drift Club was an absolute delight. In the weeks leading up to our visit Catherine was extremely communicative and helpful. Upon arrival, She greeted and introduced us to her dog Stetson. We were given some information, then led to our campsite. Catherine stopped along the way to tell us about the other sites and tell us about the property. We chose tent site 3 and were NOT disappointed! Firewood, kindling and a small table were waiting for us. The surroundings were beautiful, the sound of the stream was a great soundtrack and (most importantly for me) the newly delivered, very clean port a John was located in a convenient but unobtrusive spot.

We spent the afternoon exploring the huge fenced property, visiting the pigs (!!!) and having a generally nice time. The night was quiet except for the sound of the stream and we felt very safe and secluded. The sky was dark enough to see stars we never get to see at home!

The next day was just as nice! I 100% recommend paying a little extra for Catherine to give you a tour. Not only do you get to meet the Mangalitsa pigs (!!!), you get to learn more about the breed and all the processes on the farm. You can tell how passionate Catherine is about her work and the well-being of her animals. The rest of the day was spent driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, visiting Asheville and checking out the ADORABLE downtown Waynesville.

Our second night was just as pleasant and on the way out we were able to buy some delicious sausages. We have already booked a trip for August and absolutely cannot wait to return!

Property was beautiful. Catherine and Rick made us feel welcome and at home. Stayed at tent site 3 nexts to the creek, it was gorgeous and private. The sound of the creek was wonderful to fall asleep to. Ground was even and grass was plush. Farm dog Stetson was so friendly and all smiles. Hiked up the hill and the view was amazing, even for high standards. Not a bad drive into Pisgah and Asheville. We love a relaxing, quiet place to camp. We will be staying again soon.

This place is absolutely magical. We LOVED our stay! The hosts are so friendly and accommodating; it was great to get to know them and their operation. The sites are all very pretty with views to the river and creek. There are beautiful hikes on the property and chairs to lounge in and take in the views. There are all sorts of animals which are fun to watch and interact with. Their main attraction are the mangalitsa pigs. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Amazing spot to camp! Beautiful location with river access and only about 10 minutes from the cute town of Waynesville. The camp spots are far enough away from each other so there's plenty of privacy. Catherine is very friendly and hospitable; you can feel her passion for this wonderful farm! Our visit to the Drift Club Creek River was awesome. My wife and I stayed 2 nights at the rapids campsite for a bit of car camping and could not have been more pleased. The campsite was located in a nice, flat area right next to the Pigeon River so the sounds of the river would lull us to sleep and gently wake us each morning. The farm itself was beautiful and there is plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the idyllic views of the farm, which is nestled in a valley between rolling hills. There are clean potable toilets within a short walking distance and potable water nearby too. The hosts were very accommodating and had everything ready when we arrived (firewood, directions, etc). Catherine also gave us a lovely tour of the farm operation and introduced us to the pigs that are raised there (small additional cost but a nice way to learn about the hosts and their obvious passion for raising Mangalitsa pigs). The farm is close to interstate 40 and just a few minutes drive to Waynesville, TN which has some good restaurants and city amenities. I’d def stay again and recommend checking this place out for your next camping trip! I’d also recommend picking up some of the sausage from the farm...TASTY!
