We had so much fun, even with all the rain that occurred on our camping trip! The family was wonderful and inviting, they even had fire wood for us! We took advantage of the canoes and fishing opportunities, and Bernie even showed my son a few fishing tips! We are already planning our next trip!
Sondra and Bernie welcomed us as we drove up the driveway for friendly reception. The camping by the pond was just right. Access to the shower and bathroom was super convenient.

Our visit to Twin Oaks Mountain Retreat, was a pleasant sojourn by the pond. Our friendly hosts, Sondra and Bernie, warmly welcomed my husband and I upon our arrival. Right from the start, they ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
This was a last-minute booking, but Sondra and Bernie were able to seamlessly accommodate us. Thank you for your flexibility and hospitality!
During our stay at Twin Oaks Mountain Retreat, we set up our tent by the edge of the pond. The camping plot was well-maintained with a fire ring, picnic table, and access to an indoor shower and toilet. A walking trail was just behind this spot. There were also two canoes available to us, and Bernie kindly allowed my husband and I to use a fishing pole while we we were there.
Our favorite part of the our stay, aside from getting to know our kind hosts, was having dinner at the edge of the pond. A variety of colorfully feathered friends darted around the water and into the adjacent woodlands. The stars soon became visible as the sunlight slowly receded. It was a wonderful way to end the day.
If you’re searching for a quiet, peaceful Hipcamp with quick, easy access to Boone, look no further. Thank you for sharing your Hipcamp with us, Bernie and Sondra. It was such a pleasure meeting you both.

Sondra and Bernie were great host and salt of the earth type of people! We camped right on pond had nice camp fire, Bernie had left us some cut wood! We watched the stars and a had a great sleep! Woke up and fished enjoyed the scenery and Bernie even showed us around his workshop!
Absolutely charming spot; bonus points that there is a toaty warm shower and bathroom available.
We happened to be here during some crazy mountain wind which made it uncomfortable to cook on our stove or even sit by the fire. It is a beautiful property and I’m sure is perfect for many campers but just wasn’t as secluded as we like. Maybe we’ll try again when there are leaves on the trees. Lovely hospitality from the hosts!
Beautiful land and Beautiful people! I highly recommend this camp ground. It’s fantastic :)
Nice location, not too far from Boone as we decided to camp here for a concert at App State. 2 private sites with stocked ponds to fish and enjoy tent camping and grilling. Sondra and Bernie were welcoming and accommodating for flexible check in and check out times. We will definitely be back when we want a private camping get away!!
