One of our favorites!
I’ve camped all over the country but this was one of my favorite stays! The site was beautiful, we were provided with everything we needed and then some, and our host was amazing. We stayed at site 2, which had an a ton of options for tent sites - we went with the pine grove. We were the second closest to the amenities (sink, shower, latrine) - 3 is the closest and 1 is the furthest away, not by much). Chuck, the host, went above and beyond to make our weekend awesome. He gave us all the firewood we could need and our own big jug of water - he even brought around some of the farms goats for our daughter to pet. We’ll for sure be back!
Tranquil camping spot
This spot was wonderful. I ended up not having cell service at the campsite but that ended up actually being a blessing. It allowed me and my two dogs to fully take in the area around us and enjoy the scenery. The stars from the site were wonderful and my dogs definitely enjoyed all the space to run around.
The New Forest is absolutely beautiful. The views are amazing and the land is kept extremely clean. Everything is very well maintained and the hosts are some of the nicest people around. She was super welcoming and was there for us if we needed anything without hesitation. Highly recommend for camping around the Uwharrie area.
Charles and his wife were FABULOUS hosts and although it was a hot summer night and there was a party going on at the lake below their property, the hospitality was second to none and would absolutely recommend it!
Buck was an awesome host. Very knowledgeable about the land, it’s history and the wildlife we may encounter during our stay. Chuck also provided drinking water and firewood.
Th site was clean and the pit toilet and rain shower and sink are a nice amenity. We stayed on site 3 and it was very peaceful and convenient to have all 3 of the amenities located at this site.
This property is beautiful!! We had an amazing time in the most peaceful forrest. Our campsite was clean and clear and Chuck was fantastic. He offers water and firewood and all the help with a smile you could ask for. I live about 30 minutes from this site and it’s SO worth the breath of fresh air just even for the night (which is all we got to stay). We will definitely be back!!!
Upon entering the gate onto Charles beautiful and well maintained property, we passed bucolic rolling pastures with horses grazing and a herd of 50 goats sauntering past. We then followed the meandering, narrow dirt road as it entered a new pine forest intermixed with meadows - secluded, quiet, and clearly managed to provide a peaceful setting for his 3 campsites. Each are separated far enough apart on his vast property so as not to be able to see or hear the other campsites. We chose campsite 3 with its long view down a hillside meadow. With the surrounding trees, the site thankfully does not get morning sun so we could sleep in. Charles has a carried out a thoughtful vision for his land. The outhouse even has solar powered lights along the path to it so you can find it in the dark! The rain water sink was perfect for washing up dishes and he provided drinking water and nice dry firewood. He showed us around and it was truly a delight to hear about his love for the land and animals. This is definitely a rare hipcamp that really provided everything we needed in a safe and secluded setting. If you want a perfect basecamp for exploring the Uwharries and avoid the crowds of the state campgrounds - this is the place.
