The property has old family ties to this day the stories echo in these Mountains. The Elder of the Trout Farm lives on the property above your campsite. His family has been here for generations. He and his children built the trout farm from the ground up! The main transportation in Elk Park was the train. It came directly through the town in front of the still standing Historical Brinkley’s Hardware and several tiny Antique shoppes. Elk River Falls is across the way, but I must warn, this magnificent Falls has Claimed many lives. Even locals have succumbed to this tragedy. The falls offer breath taking views and a much welcomed swimming hole. But I do not recommend jumping off the top. There are many storms that push all kinds of debris over the falls and make it a temporary graveyard. We have all kinds a of wildlife that can be viewed just by sitting and watching or taking a drive. Always remember to shuffle your feet and make loud noises when creating a mountainous area where a bear can be lurking on the other side or up wind.. some people may say we don’t have snakes? They’re just pulling your leg.. hence shuffle your feet. I prefer a walking stick or two, depending on the terrain of course. Well I’ve got plenty of stories to tell but if I tell them all here there won’t be anything left to tell! Enjoy your stay. Please be respectful of your surroundings and we’ll always welcome you year after year!!
