We had a fantastic stay. Such a beautiful location. The A frame is adorable and perfect shelter for when you need just a little more than a tent. We were able to charge our phones and use the lights while keeping dry from a passing rain, while still enjoying the sights and sounds of outdoors with the hatch propped open. The provided mattress is extremely small so we used our double size air mattress instead. It was a perfect fit. Wonderful location for near by hikes in the mountains or fishing and swimming right off your campsite. We will definitely be back to swim in the warmer months. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Absolutely wonderful place to stay! Steve and Lesley were very quick to make sure we had everything we needed, including firewood and starter sticks! Ingenious design of the A-frame, and so great to sit on the hill and watch the beautiful wide river flow by. Really close to the super cool town of West Jefferson, but totally away from it all in the peace and quiet at the same time! Highly recommended!

We rented this little cabin along with the tent spot. We stayed in our tent but enjoyed checking out the cabin. Such a neat place!

12/10 stay! steve and leslie (and their 7 dogs) were so welcoming. steve showed us around the camp site and is such a talent soul in building a beautiful A frame and providing it with solar powered charging units, light fixtures, running water with soap, lighters, tiki inserts, gasoline, even wood! a cool treehouse that has a tabletop gas ignited fire pit is also a few feet away great for enjoying a cocktail, morning coffee with an overlook of a river that is available to float down with some tubes that can be borrowed from their home down the road. the waterfall is a short 1/4 mile walk. definitely recommend! thank you steve!

Steve and Leslie were fantastic hosts. The little A frame was exactly as listed. Fresh drinking water was available from a spigot at the host's home. An electric water pump also provided potable water from a bucket into the charming sink in the cabin. A solar inverter outlet provided a place to charge our phones. The location has a lovely view of the New River. The clean Porta John was across the street just short walk away. The path was well lit at night and blue twinkle lights filled the trees and cabin. A full bucket of firewood as well as starter fluid and citronella tiki torches made the evening around the fire perfectly comfortable. The A frame truly is tiny and the provided sofa cushion is good for 1 short person. We knew to bring our own bedding so my 6' 3" husband and I were quite comfortable. The night was chilly so we closed the porch, but did not need to use the provided buddy heater or wood stove to stay comfortable. Wonderful weekend!

Directions to the A frame are not correct on Hipcamp. The best way to use google maps to find it is to go to the intersection of Cox Road and John Gautier Rd. 36.379182, -81.411495 Then turn sharp right to continue on Cox Road and go about 1/4 mile until you see the A Frame on the right.

Night time lighting and views of the river. Perfect!Cool faucet brought water from a bucket outside into the sink which we emptied in the forest when full.View out the door towards the river and the campsite across the street. Hooks are the door were great for our jackets. Door latches from the inside and outside.View of small wood stove, sink, inverter cabinet and other provided supplies.

Steve and Leslie are so nice and accommodating. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are already planning a trip to return. The area is beautiful and quiet. The A frame is so well thought out, practical and adorable. We arrived not knowing what to expect and left with new friends. We highly recommend.

My buddy and I had a great weekend at the getaw”A”y. Steve was a great host and provided extras like soap, torch fuel, and lights etc. The campsite was suppose to be rented but the folks canceled last minute, so we had access to both spots! You couldn’t ask for a better experience and host. Only thing I would say is watch out for spiders/ants and make sure to check your gear before bedding down. While here go check out the charming little town of West Jefferson, it’s a great place to spend the day, additionally hike Mt.Jefferson and go kayaking on the New River.

The getaw"A"y was so cute and cozy, and the river-side location is beautiful. Steve was a very welcoming, hospitable host, and provided everything we could need! We brought a grate to cook over the fire pit and a coleman double burner which made cooking easy.
