Get away from everyday life, and experience living in a primitive cabin with no electricity and no running water.  Have a homesteading adventure  in our rustic woodland tree house in Moravian Falls, NC.  This mountain hollow is a great place for rest, play, and unplugging from everyday life. The cabin is bordered by a creek and surrounded by mature trees, hills, a wetland. The surrounding land is park-like and is a fabulous way to vacation alone, with family, or friends. Many amenities are included in the cabin and in the common area.

Walk down the steep hillside to the 12x12 insulated, cabin, which is extended with a 10x12 ft. deck. The Tree House hangs off of a rock ledge and is supported by trees. Whether rain or shine, this location is peaceful, private, and serene. Dogwood trees hang gracefully over the deck. Larger trees dapple the large, private site with partial shade. Wade into the shallow stream, sit on the deck,  rest near the fire pit, or sit on the tree swings, and hammocks, and listen to the little stream that borders the camp.

The interior of the cabin is small, simple, non-electric, but comfortable and includes a loft with a queen sized bed. On the main floor is a futon. It is adequate for 2 adults and possibly three small children, or four adults.

If you more people than 4, you will have to bring your own shelter. If you have more than 6 people, talk to me, and we can see if you are a good fit for this site.

The kitchen has cabinets for some storage and a place for food preparation. To make your stay easier, we have added a few essentials, food items, as well as cooking  equipment. On the deck there is Coleman cooking stove available for your use. There are two oil lamps, tea candles, and solar lights for your convenience.

There is a small, exterior, but attached outhouse with a sawdust composting toilet. The bathroom has a battery powered motion light so you won't be stuck in the dark.  A solar heated shower bag is available. You can also wash up in the creek.

For those in your company who prefer a more primitive camping experience, there is plenty of room to pitch tents. If you have a larger group of people, you can also book our other sites, The Suspended Sanctuary Tree Tent and the Awesome Overlook Hammock Camping site. The three sites are close enough for easy visiting but far enough a part for plenty of privacy.

Play in the stream, follow the brook down to the neighbor's horse pasture and into the woods, or wander upstream to the man-made waterfall.   Walk up the gravel road to our farm and meet our goats, chickens, donkeys, and horses. This is a working hobby farm.

Local Activities:  to the west include the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is about 30 minutes away.  15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, as well as other equipment,  explore biking and hiking trails.

Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away.

Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town.  About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.

To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public.

To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. This is fun for all ages.

Merlefest (September 16-19, 2021), a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town.

TRASH REMOVAL: Please take your trash with you. You can put it in the largest trash bin on the street. There is a compost pile next to the garden for veggie and fruit scraps. I will dispose of the human waste.

While there are only accommodations for four people in the cabin, you can have more people by setting up tents on the premises.  Just increase the number of people staying with you. I have limited the amount of people who can stay at the site to prevent larger parties.  If you are a large family, please ask, and I can change the number of people allowed to suit your needs..

Please consider our other sites as well. They will be listed to the right of this site on your computer screen. Our other sites are The Suspended Sanctuary Tree Tent, Happy Hillside Hammock Camping, and the Cozy Cottage Farm Stay. All sites are unique and are within walking distance of each other.

Our family spend a wonderful week at the treehouse! We loved every minute of it! Our kids had a great time playing in the creek, swinging, napping in the hammocks and just running around the woods! Just the right amount of things to do while being able to fully relax and unwind.
Touring the farm was a blast- the goats and donkeys are so friendly and love getting pet. Elizabeth and Mark were wonderful hosts and we had everything we needed for our stay. We also loved getting out and exploring- a nice hike on Prayer Mountain, Rocky Face park and a great time at the Emerald Hollow Mine. So many great memories were had!

Elizabeth (she's great!) was waving us down when we arrived! The directions were perfect for us hillbillies. The best thing about this treehouse is EVERYTHING! I wish I had made the reservations for a whole week! We were just getting started after day 1. The grounds were neat & clean, full of nature sounds from the creek, insects, birds & frogs. (The only "noise" was the LOUD campers above us who apparently loved to party, one was still drunk the next morning). We had some quiet times when they were not around the community area (where they mostly stayed with their music) Disrespectful! The campfire was a nice ending to our days, and Jake loved to come down and lay by the fire with us. This was an awesome opportunity to unplug, not look for or at our phones. It was just enough rest and relaxation to get us back to normal. It was defintely worth the money and travel to get this experience with nature. We were close enough to a store that if we needed anything, it was within 10 minutes of us. The propane grill was a great addition. We used it every meal. We grilled steaks and hamburgers over the fire (charcoal). As soon as the dogs (Seth & Bijou) smelled it, we had company. But they were very respectful & waited to be invited for a bite :). The shower was interesting. It took 2 of us (helping eachother), a lot of fun! I wouldn't trade those 2 days for anything! We learned a lot about being off the grid! We will return! We love this place! You'll have everything you NEED here.

The tree house is great! The grounds are lovely as well. The June heat was the only damper to my visit. Good thing there were no bugs…Sleeping on the deck was necessary!

It was unusually hot! I'm glad that the gravity chairs were good for sleeping on the deck. Just today, we ordered the parts for putting in a small solar system, big enough to support a fan to help move the air in the cabin on hot summer evenings. I hope that this solves the problem! It should be good for charging phones, and maybe a some small lights.

This was our second visit and still one of our favorites! The land has an energy that truly heals the soul. The spring water is so nourishing and the cool air is so refreshing. This place is wonderful to get away and recharge or bring the entire family. My 9 year old niece feels such a sense of freedom on this land as well. I can let her play and roam the land!
Mark and Elizabeth are wonderful host! They have made this land their art pallet and it truly shows. The land is so natural with a twist of art added on every corner. The property is very untouched but you will see small things around the property that will make you smile. My niece loved the fairy garden, slackline, creek for endless play, solar lights that showed up at night, and she even enjoyed peeking in the crawdad holes with pure curiosity.

Elizabeth and her husband were very welcoming and kind! They made us feel
right at home and showed us everything we needed to know about the property. Babbling Brook Treehouse is amazing! It is supplied with everything you need, and the site is beautiful. We loved the sound of the water, the hammocks everywhere, the cute decor all around and the cabin was perfect! It rained and temperatures dropped our second night there, but the cabin’s insulation and many blankets kept us warm and comfortable.

We will be back with the kids next time and plan to visit the farm animals and paint rocks for the fairies. :) I highly recommend this place and their other camping locations!

Babbling Brook TreehouseView from the cabin. The property was beautiful and peaceful! A Coleman stove and propane were provided for easy cooking!

This is a great spot for a quick getaway! It’s only about 15-20 minutes for the main highway so it’s easy to get to but it feels like a true escape to the woods. The little cabin was exactly what I wanted for an early spring trip — I enjoyed spending all day outside by the creek but then spending the chilly nights in a real bed! Elizabeth has done a great job of thinking about pretty much everything. No need to bring cooking utensils, etc. It would be a great place for young kids — enough room to run around, a creek to play in that isn’t too deep or fast, a slack line and a set of craft supplies. Elizabeth and her husband were lovely and communicative hosts — I would definitely come back!
