Get away from everyday life, depart from hotel vacations, and experience living in a primitive cabin with no electricity and no running water. Have a homesteading adventure in our rustic woodland tree house in Moravian Falls, NC. This mountain hollow is a great place for rest, play, and unplugging from everyday life. The cabin is bordered by a creek and surrounded by woods, hills, a wetland. The surrounding land is park-like and is a fabulous way to vacation alone, with family, or friends. Many amenities are included in the cabin and in the common area.
Walk down the steep hillside to the 12x12 insulated, cabin, which is extended with a 10x12 ft. deck. The Tree House hangs off of a rock ledge and is supported by trees. Whether rain or shine, this location is peaceful, private, and serene. Dogwood trees hang gracefully over the deck. Larger trees dapple the large, private site with partial shade. Wade into the shallow stream, sit on the deck, rest near the fire pit, or sit on the tree swings, and hammocks, and listen to the little stream that borders the camp.
The interior of the cabin is small, simple, non-electric, but comfortable and includes a loft with a queen sized bed. On the main floor is a futon. It is adequate for 2 adults and possibly three small children, or four adults.
The kitchen has cabinets for some storage and a place for food preparation. To make your stay easier, we have added a few essentials, food items, as well as cooking equipment. On the deck there is Coleman cooking stove available for your use. There are two oil lamps, tea candles, and solar lights for your convenience.
There is a small, exterior, but attached outhouse with a sawdust composting toilet. The bathroom has a battery powered motion light so you won't be stuck in the dark. A solar heated shower bag is available. You can also wash up in the creek.
For those in your company who prefer a more primitive camping experience, there is plenty of room to pitch tents. If you have a larger group of people, you can also book our other sites, The Suspended Sanctuary Tree Tent and the Awesome Overlook Hammock Camping site. The three sites are close enough for easy visiting but far enough a part for plenty of privacy.
Play in the stream, follow the brook down to the neighbor's horse pasture and into the woods, or wander upstream to the man-made waterfall. Walk up the gravel road to our farm and meet our goats, chickens, donkeys, and horses. This is a working hobby farm.
Local Activities: to the west include the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is about 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, as well as other equipment, explore biking and hiking trails.
Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away.
Heading east, you can find several fine wineries and vineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday.
To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public.
To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. This is fun for all ages.
Merlefest (September 16-19, 2021), a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town.
TRASH REMOVAL: Please take your trash with you. You can put it in the largest trash bin on the street. There is a compost pile next to the garden for veggie and fruit scraps. I will dispose of the human waste.
While there are only accommodations for four people in the cabin, you can have more people by setting up tents on the premises. Just increase the number of people staying with you. I have limited the amount of people who can stay at the site to prevent noisy parties. If you are a large family, please ask, and I can change the number of people allowed to suit your needs..
If you wish to have a larger group, please consider booking the SUSPENDED SANCTUARY TREE TENT, Awesome Overlook Hammock Camping for the same period time. The sites are only a short walk from each other.
DISCLAIMER: WHILE WE HAVE MADE EVERY EFFORT TO MAKE EVERYTHING AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE, YOU ARE CAMPING HERE AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE PROPERTY IS STEEP, WITH NARROW, AND SOMETIMES WET PATHS AND STAIRS. THERE ARE STAIRS TO CLIMB UP INTO THE OPEN LOFT.

If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
This was our 2nd time at the treehouse! Elizabeth’s hospitality is just amazing. There’s enough privacy that even if there are people staying at the hanging hammocks ( close by), you won’t even see or hear them.
If you’re going in the summer months, a battery powered fan will be a good idea to bring since it gets humid inside.
We loved our stay! We hope to come back soon. Thank you Elizabeth for everything!
The tree house was better than I could have ever imagined! Elizabeth and Mark put so much thought and care into providing a peaceful, creative and restorative environment that shows in every aspect of the camp. We will definitely be coming back for a longer stay!
This place is truly magical. If you are looking to get back to the basics, calm your soul, and get your feet dirty then look no further. Elizabeth and Mark have truly poured their hearts into this space. My 8 year old niece was so sad to leave. There was so much for her to enjoy! A garden of herbs for cooking, the beautiful sound of water rolling over the rocks, the natural spring with a filter for you to enjoy, art supplies, games, books, swings, the farm (horses, goats, chickens), and the natural beauty of the earth. We will be booking here again soon!! Elizabeth and Mark are absolutely wonderful! Their naturally gifted talents truly show on this land.
I’m a single woman and stayed here alone with my young child. We had an amazing time and Elizabeth was a great host! If you’re sleeping in the treehouse all you need to bring is food, drinks, pillows, clothes, flashlight and maybe a blanket. She has everything stocked and I look forward to carrying in a lighter load next time we visit. I really can’t say enough good things about our experience and can’t wait to go back. Thank you!!
Me and my wife stayed for a night and was the perfect cabin treehouse stay. There is a creek that goes through camp, and love hearing the creek at night. It really adds to the already amazing atmosphere. The host was super helpful and showed us around. Loved everything and definitely would come back.
