Learn more about this land: This spot is a primative campsite! I have camped here personally many times over the years and decided to share it with other campers. There is an outhouse, but no showers, so feel free to wash up in the river! A big trash can is provided. Firewood is available for $7 a bundle (healthy bundle), but you are welcome to forage for downed wood to use (I've found that method very rewarding)! Parking is for cars, pickup trucks, or mini vans. If you have a small camper van, you can camp in it, but it cannot be any longer than 15 feet. (NO SPRINTER VANS). There is a Cidery less than a mile away and you are 10 minutes from Burnsville where there are plenty of restaurants and shopping. Don't forget to stop in the brewery and grab some to-go brews to enjoy by the fire on the river!

Tent Camping on South Toe

Easy to access site on the river!

Great site, exactly as described! I stayed one night after hiking Mount Mitchell. Site was clean and has a nice flat space for a tent. Robert brought me some firewood on short notice. Neighbors drove by twice, no issues at all.

Nice, spacious spot right on the river. We enjoyed fishing in the river (we caught 3!) and hiking in the beautiful surrounding area. The firepit was nice and big which was great for the evenings.

Tent Camping on South Toe

Easy to acesss, clean (!!) portapotty, quiet (minimal neighbor traffic), flat for tents, nice fire pit and lovely view and acess to the river. Robert was very quick to reply my questions and offered food/drink recommendations. Super sweet spot for a night or two to get out of town. Book it!

Such an awesome camp sight! The South Toe river was gorgeous and so fun to take a dip in. The camp sight was clean, the neighbors were super friendly, and the host was fantastic. Not far from town either, if you want to check out Burnsville! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful, private river spot great for tubing, kayaking, fishing and rock hunting. Absolutely loved it! Would definitely come back :)

Sleep to the sound of the river

Beautiful secluded spot right on Small Toe River. Listening to the gentle set of rapids will put you right to sleep at night. Kingfisher provided plenty of morning entertainment. Plenty of space for large tents. Raised fire pit was great. Bring your own cooking grate and table. We’ll be back!
