His site says to check in at his resturant and says resturant is open untill 11pm. We arrive at 7:20pm, the resturant is closed, all lights off. Door sign says to ring door bell or call a number, no answer. Tried several times. Looked around for campsites all we saw was a trashy loking camper, everything looked run down not in business. No other sites no signs no directions. Stuck around for 30 min. Hoping he would respond to my messages sent, nothing. We left, I have sent messages to him and hipcamp asking for a full refund, still nothing , no response from him. Hoping hipcamp will refund me on the next business day

In summary, would I stay at this location again? Yes. Do I think that it needs a number of improvements? Also yes.

Pros: The sound of the creek and the location of the campsites relative to the creek was amazing. Even though it rained quite a bit before and during our trip (there was even a flash flood warning), the campsites were still dry. The campsite (we stayed in #3) was very large and accommodating. There was an abundance of firewood scattered around the compound that I was able to gather.

Cons: There was trash everywhere. I understand that some of this was from prior campers (shame on them) but some of it was from the site itself. There was construction material laying around in various visible locations adjacent to our campsite. Our fire pit was filled with hundreds (not exaggerating) of nails and also had quite a bit of glass in it. I picked up some of the trash that was left at our campsite as well but still a lot where that came from. Lastly, the bathroom was subpar at best. There was no soap, the toilet paper was sitting on the counter (not sanitary), and overall the bathroom was pretty muddy.

Like I said I would return here in the future as the creek was very nice but I think that it needs some work and attention. Lastly, we stayed with our two dogs and it was a good location for them (minus that nails scattered on the ground).

It was fun for us to stay at a place that was affiliated with a restaurant bc there was a lot of people to see. We shared a fire pit with our camp neighbors and had an enjoyable time. Also spent some time w motel visitors and watched some football. The river is very nice and gave us a soothing sound to sleep to. Never met Corey though.

Corey was very responsive and laid back - let us check out late when we were scrambling to get out on time. We were lucky and no one else was staying so we were very secluded (site #5) and didn't have to walk through anyone's site. If you aren't wanting that then book site #1. The creek is peaceful and drowns out all other sounds. We were a 45 min drive to Black Balsam Knob/Graveyard Fields. The site also has a shower, sauna and hot tub - none of which we used but it being available for use was awesome. Would recommend :) thanks Corey!

My expectations were fairly accurate based on the reviews I read. There are spots right by the tavern that would be a cool vibe if you wanted to stay up later and listen the band or interact with people.

Our interactions with the host were very positive and they seemed friendly and helpful.

We opted for a more primitive camping experience and took the spot furthest away from the Tavern by parking on the gravel road behind the tavern and waking down a wide path to the right. The spot was very private and right by the stream.

Our only issue was we selected this spot because of the showers available. We mountain bike and like to clean up during our weekend stay. The shower was not usable. It was in the lower floor of the property and didn’t look like it was maintained. There was standing water in the tub with a cigarette butt floating in it and one on the bathroom floor so we skipped the shower.

You don’t have to check in. As others have mentioned, you don’t reserve a specific spot even though it gives you a choice. It’s first come first serve so you can go straight out and select a spot.

Would definitely stay here again but just know the shower isn’t an option.

Nice flat spacious area with a fire pit. Hard to see in the pictures but we saw a couple black beers across the creek from our site. Awesome experience.

What a mess, don't bother. Sites aren't marked, beer bottles and other peoples stuff littered everywhere. Bathroom is disgusting, the shower was evidently plugged with an inch of water and cigarette butts floating in it. I asked for a refund and was told "you'll have to take that up with Hipcamp".

The campsite wasn't very secluded like the pictures suggest but it's a very nice spot right on a cute little river/Creek. There's plenty of room for hiking along the creek away from the site. The only problem we had during our stay was the shower for the campers wasn't working properly. The host, Corey fixed the problem as soon as I mentioned it by letting us use the shower in one of the empty motel rooms he has on the property. Overall, it was a very nice stay and I would definitely come back again if ever in the area.

Nice campsite in a good location. Close to lots of great parks, including Pisgah, Gorges, and Dupont. Located next to a pretty mountain creek which was fun to explore. Corey was friendly and quick to respond.
