Bad experience
Bad experience. Description should have stated that 4WD is absolutely required to get up the very steep gravel driveway. My car usually does fine on steep mountain roads but couldn't even begin to climb the driveway. I parked at the bottom and lugged my stuff up, set up camp, then upon returning to my car was confronted by a hostile neighbor who told me, "You can't park there, that's my property." I said, "My car doesn't get up the driveway. Do you know of any other places I could park." And she said, "I don't want to help you because I don't agree with this airbnb thing" (referring to the hipcamp setup) and walked off. I ended up packing up my tent and driving 2 hours back home that night. I also called the host Andy 3 times at different points in the evening and left 3 voicemails. I never got a response. Don't come here unless you are very confident in your car's 4WD ability and are not concerned about very unfriendly neighbors who have strong negative feelings about being nextdoor to a hipcamp property.

Can’t wait to return.
This camp site is a dream. It is isolated and quiet and has a beautiful view. Went here for star gazing and had a perfect, unobstructed view of the sky. I would absolutely recommend it for anyone looking for a private getaway into nature, just outside of Asheville. The site is right next to where you park; no hiking required. However, one thing to note: Four wheel drive was necessary to make it up to the site itself. The driveway is a bit too steep/muddy for a regular car, so if anyone is interested in camping here, you definitely would want to plan for that accordingly. It is definitely worth the effort!
