Ravens' Roost
As a solo car camper I am always looking for a good safe place to sleep overnight. I am grateful to Raven's Roost for providing that. That said, there were a few things that ended up not being as advertised.

Site was great and so close to west Asheville!
The commune/neighbors were all very nice and accommodating:).

Would neither recommend nor return.
Strongly negative experience start to finish. The road getting to the site was so rough and so steep, we actually managed to crack a rim on our car (a Subaru Outback) just getting up to it.
Upon arrival the host was neither present nor responsive by phone. We were told there were instructions on the outhouse, but there were none so we had no idea where to park or set up camp. Along with the outhouse there were two trailers and a camper that were permanent residences, nobody batted an eye when we were wandering clearly looking for any information.
We finally landed at what we thought was the tent site described on the website, which was just a flattened turnaround at the end of a dirt road, within earshot of the residents.
The property itself was seemingly in disrepair. I'm sure the permanent residents would call the items strewn about their personal belongings, but truth be told it felt like we were in a homeless/vagrant encampment.
I'm not going to speculate about what may or may not occur on that property, but we were so uncomfortable with the state of it, the proximity of the permanent residents to the "campsite", and the dangerous road, that we turned around and gave up on it. We stayed at the Holiday Inn nearby, which was great.
The host asked why we decided not to stay, and when I answered truthfully, the host was rude and argumentative in response.
I would not recommend booking at Raven's Roost and will not be returning.

We had a lovely night here! The road in is steep but otherwise fine. The camp spot is spacious and flat in a wooded setting. It’s the dead end of a short old fire road. Nice little fire ring. The long term campers you pass on the way in are friendly and kind. The night we spent here was very peaceful. The toilet area could use a tidy up, but that’s our only complaint. If you are used to family campgrounds or are prone to judging others with less traditional life styles , this maybe isn’t for you. If you are comfortable with primitive camping and can appreciate a touch of the eccentric, you’ll really enjoy it here.

Awesome
It’s a perfect spot! So nice with views that are wonderful! The outside shower is the best. I would stay again and I’m to tell my friends that visit Asheville that I have the perfect spot for you to stay! Chip Grant
