Beautiful secluded spot nestled in the mountain! Very peaceful and nice set up with fire pit and hanging lights. No problems pulling in with 23ft camper. The road up is gravel . Nik is a wonderful host and great communication. Will definitely be back!

Amazing spot! Great sunrises, the town lights visible through the trees and plenty of wildlife. Shout out to Nik for such great maintenance of the site, and a quick solution for water. Two words of warning, the road coming in is a bit tight and steep. If you do not have an adequate tow vehicle or are over the recommended length, probably won’t work. If you have dogs just be aware of the red clay, no big deal it’s camping.

Both of the roads you see in the cover picture (really just a continuation of the same windy road) are private. There are (I think) only 2 property owners on the land, nik the hipcamp owner and one other. Niks property is not visible whatsoever. You pass the other property on the way up but on the campsite it is not visible except for a small amount of light showing through the trees at night. The distant hum of some main road or highway can be heard from time to time, but that’s hard to escape when you’re at such an elevation. It did not bother us and it wasn’t audible inside the tent. Nik was very responsive and accommodating. Black mountain is a great little town to explore on foot and Asheville is 15-20 mins away. You’re in North Carolina mountains, be bear concisions! They scare easily but you wouldn’t want to sneak up on one. Overall great spot.

Great spot. Easy to locate and very clean. You can hear I40 from the spot but coming from the city it did not bother me. We really liked that there was a bear proof trash can provided so we did not have to leave our trash in the car overnight. We drove into Asheville to get breakfast so you are close to everything here. Overall it was a great time. Thanks for hosting us!

Nik went above and beyond to give us turn by turn directions via text and he even let us know that the campsite was ready for us before check in time. We had such a great time and it was a gorgeous camp site. Highly recommend this spot!!!
This is a unique spot on the side of a mountain. Beautiful view and very private. Nic is a great host. Read his specifications to make sure your camper fits, ours just made it! Great area, Black Mountain has some great restaurants and Asheville and the Blue Ridge Mountains are near. We recommend it whole heartedly!
Pretty relaxing spot! as you come in the neighbors are friendly and wave hello! Place was clean and grounds were fresh. Decent views though the trees from the campsite.
My wife and I had a great 2 week visit to Asheville in March 2022 and can't imagine a better place to stay than at Nik's hipcamp. It's close enough to Asheville and Black Mountain to enjoy the scene in those two towns, but also remote enough to enjoy stillness and solitude on the side of a beautiful mountain. Nik was a helpful and responsive host. Two bits of advice: be bear safe (we had a mama and 3 cubs around a few times) and use a 4x4 and have a little trailer experience because it takes a little skill to turn around at the next switchback when arriving and back out of the site when departing. We will visit WNC again someday soon and will likely seek out this camp again.
