Paradise Ridge is on a dead end road, with a gated community at the top of the mountain. It is a wonderful place in Fairview, NC. A small 5-acre lot completely off grid, its only inhabitants at the moment are the two horses that call it home, Navarre and Sweet Pea.

Most of the property has been untouched for the past 20 years. The small area kept under hand is managed with a permaculture approach to make as little disturbance as possible and to keep it protected for the wildlife around the area. The property has been chemical free for the past 10 years under Paradise Ridge; thus, it has plenty of wild edibles around for your pleasure. Mushrooms, weeds and added edibles for your experience.

At the moment, we accept tents, hammocks, and the like for anyone to enjoy this little piece of paradise on Flat Top Mountain.

We are located between Asheville and Chimney Rock. There is SO much the area has to offer; it is too much to list here. You can find great food, good beer, and lively music in either direction from Paradise Ridge. Or you can enjoy a simple quiet camp fire while listening to the horses chew their hay and frolic in their pasture.

We had a magical time at Paradise Ridge. Amber is a gracious and thorough host and she's created a magical land for camping. We pitched our tents in the big open field and then gathered around the fire pit. The land itself is well-maintained. There's just enough lighting for you to know your way around and not enough to spoil the glorious view of the stars up above. It was wonderful! Thank you Amber!

We had such a great time staying at Paradise Ridge! They were very accommodating and had everything we needed. The property was gorgeous and so unique. We loved being able to have our dogs off leash and our lab loved playing fetch in the pasture. The best part was being able to go for a day hike and leave our stuff without worrying about someone walking away with it. Paradise Ridge is a hidden gem and we can’t wait to visit again!

Amber and Woody were fantastic hosts! And this spot really was a gem - when I booked I expected very bare necessities but once getting out there I was surprised to find hammocks, a fire pit and chairs, picnic table, fresh mountain spring water, a mountain-water shower, trash and recycling collection and light hiking trails. The location is on a mountain 20 minutes from Asheville (and the drive to and from the city was scenic and very easy). Be prepared to miss the address at first - some GPS will put the location past or before the driveway. Amber was so helpful in getting us there when we checked in after dark. That said, unless you’re an experienced mountain driver, I would recommend checking in before the sun goes down. Both Amber and Woody are the kind of hosts who will chat with ya if you want to chat or leave you be if you want to be left alone. Whenever I needed anything I only ever had to ask. I recommend this place for off-grid rigs no more than 20 feet and those looking to camp on their own little chunk of space outside of a campground or designed spots in Pisgah. Similarly speaking, be prepared to be up close with wildlife. There are all kinds of critters big and small up there, but nothing to be afraid of if you’ve ever camped in the mountains before. Thank you Amber and Woody for all of your help and we hope more people come to check out your awesome spot!

Fresh Spring Water straight from the Mountain! This is us on our Skoolie out in the pasture having a drink. The hosts were very cool with us inviting some friends over to hang out around the fire pit - they even chopped wood for us! The horses are friendly - just don’t feel them as one has dietary concerns!

First, Paradise Ridge was beautiful and a fantastic spot; located 20 minutes outside of Asheville, NC, it was just secluded enough to feel completely alone when we wanted to be.

The land and amenities were great, experience was great, and Amber was a WONDERFULLY accommodating host; when we passed the entrance in our boat of a vehicle, she actually hopped in her car and sped up after us to make sure we didn’t get stuck, in trouble, or hurt and guided us back to the entrance!

Two small, but vital caveats/suggestions for Paradise Ridge:

- Take the time to have optional “best way” directions off of, let’s say I-40, to get to the location based on vehicle; a car wouldn’t have the same troubles a bus (like ours) would have either with navigating the classic ‘mountain roads’ mechanically or accessibly, so having a suggested option for a bus/van vs. a car would be vitally helpful for other campers.

- Signage! Signage would’ve made all the difference as we approached, and both us and everyone that visited us during the stay had their gps end at different points, none of which were at the entrance of the property. Granted, I don’t know the local ordinances about signage either leading to or at the entrance of the property, but that would’ve been a game-changer through our harrowing experience getting up the mountain.

HOWEVER, that being said the entire experience was fantastic! We’re probably not going to bring our bus through the mountains again, but if we’re going to be camping, car or otherwise, this is going to be the first place we look at when we stay in AVL!

Robert \ Thank you for your review! My husband (Jerry) and myself were discussing how best to address these very issues while you were still here. I hope to design a sign soon and have a solar light shine on it and the drive way entrance soon. I am once again glad we are all on the same page and I hope to resolve these issues soon. I am always open to what campers want or need that I can resolve for our tiny plot.

The campsite was perfect for what we were looking for. Just a few miles off of hwy 74 and it only took us maybe 15 to 20 minutes to get to downtown Asheville or another 15 or 20 minutes in the other direction for chimney rock. We were pleasantly surprised to find a groundskeeper that lives on site who was just the kindest man you could ever ask to meet. He made sure that the horses were taken care of and that the site was in great condition. We had also brought our dog with us and we spent several hours a day near the horse gates so that our dog could observe them. Amber and her husband were very kind and even showed up a few times to the site and shared some of their time with us. We were a bit surprised on Friday morning when we woke up to find that our camper was literally parked in one of the sites where Amber was giving a young girl a horseback riding lesson about 20 feet away but this was not a bad thing but as I mentioned it was a surprise. It did not bother us but it may be something you want to ask about if you plan on going there to stay and want more privacy. They do not have electrical outlets for small campers like mine(5x10 sleeper) but they do allow small generators so next time we come up We will be sure to bring ours with us. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who wants to stay somewhere that is close to hiking areas and or downtown Asheville but keep in mind that you are still off of a public road and there are other homes nearby so if you’re looking for complete remoteness this is not that place. With that being said all of the amenities they had to offer were great especially the large fire pit and they also have a few new things they are adding like a built in ground refrigerator and Jacuzzi coming up in the next few months or so I’m told. Thanks for a great stay.

Thank you so much for your review. Our open pasture, site 1 is not private at all. As a functioning farm I do hold friday morning private horse lessons and we do allow horses out twice a day if you stay over 3 days. I do have two tent site further into the woods for more privacy and plan in the future to have one very very private but harder to get to as well. I hate to say but....A jacuzzi is not in my plans although a gazebo is for when it rains to give people a dry place to congregate within covid protocol. We love having campers and hope to create more of what the public wants as time allows.

This was a lovely small campsite on a beautiful mountain. There are two horses sharing the property, a live spring, and tons of wildlife. As private as you might like for a quiet time away.

Amber was such an incredible host with a breathtaking property. The site was clean and spacious and even came with firewood for a bonfire. Amber was available for any questions and checked in with us before and after our stay. Can’t recommend this spot enough. We stayed here in October and the leaves were gorgeous.

This spot was great! The host was very accommodating and sweet, and the property is beautiful! Absolutely no issues, but be warned the the drive up is pretty steep (we had a 23 foot trailer but made it fine). Would stay here again!
