NOTE:  15 amp electrical, no 30.  Please no pull behind campers unless it is a small popup. Gorgeous over the water sunsets, all year long! Riverfront on Neuse River, with kayak launch and small swimming and sunbathing beach.

Beautiful views of New Bern across the river, particularly gorgeous sunsets. Lots of waterfowl, including resident duck population, as well as my own small flock of chickens (no noisy roosters, just a few egg-laying hens :)

Private flush toilet access, as well as hot/cold water deep basin sink with pull-out wand, provided on-site.

Great place to Kayak, three available for free use. Nice sandy beach, perfect for taking a dip to cool off :)   Shade trees and picnic table, fire pit.  Lots of fishing opportunities, both from shore and by boat! Launch kayaks easily from shore.  Trailered boats may use a public boat launch 3 miles away, and there are poles in front of the campsite to moor your boat.

Summertime breezes are usually prevalent from river, keeping bugs down and nights comfortably cool. Take your pick of spot, RV/Van/Truck camping limited to gravel site, tent campers may opt for either shade tree in front yard with level and grass, or gravel site where RVs normally park. ; 15 amp 110 Electric service, as well as sewage connection available for extra fee. (selected through the 'Extras'). For R/Vs, pull behind campers, back in to site required.

Concerts in New Bern at converted Maola Milk Plant is now a concert pavilion.  It is located directly across the river from my property.  Union Point is also within paddling distance, and has a host of free concerts nearly every weekend.  See the included photos for scheduling of artists.

Mosquitoes are not nearly as bad as they are in many of the other backwater campsites that you will find are located in the upper reaches of the creeks, and typically surrounded by marsh land.  These marshes of Pamlico, Craven and Carteret County are magnets for mosquitoes.  We do not have the amount of stagnant water that is prevalent in a lot of the other sites around the area, as the site is not adjacent, nor near to any marshland.   As well, the river is constantly moving, either by wind and/or current and is not a breeding ground for mosquitoes.  Lastly, normally there is a good breeze to keep them in check.  HOWEVER, as with any outdoor activities in eastern NC,  occasionally in the right conditions they are prevalent.  Bring bug spray, JIC!

Your privacy is important to me, and though I offer two sites (tent or R/V), I will never book more than one of them for any given night.  The place is all yours, when you are here :)

Pet friendly and kenneling options available.  See the many extras we have to offer!

Come see Winston, the famous fishing dog!

Important notes:

*Electric (15 AMP outdoor plug) is included in the price.  This will NOT run an air conditioner and they are restricted.  At this time, 30/50 amp is not available.

* Max length is posted at 30', and is defined as 'entire rig'.  Ex.  Car and towed camper, or R/V and towed car.  The space is a bit tight for R/Vs or campers with dual slides.  Max length cannot be exceeded, else you will have trouble backing into the site.

*During prime season May-Oct., I have a minimum two-night reservation requirement for weekend stays.  Guests MUST book two days to reserve for a weekend. (Friday & Saturday -OR- Saturday & Sunday).  If it is Thursday of any given week and you see that the upcoming weekend is open on my calendar, I will relax this requirement and allow a single-night booking.

This was the most beautiful and relaxing camp site my husband and i ever stayed at. Steve is a great guy! He has everything you need really. I would 10/10 recommend. Especially because his dog Winston is the best!

We will 100% be back!

A great stay. Even on the hottest of days the breeze and shade trees made it comfortable. Steve was a great host as well. There when you needed him it or just to carry on a conversation but he let you be as much as you wish. The sunset, and nearby train tressel are a photographers dream.

The biggest of the fish we caught. We caught some drum, croaker and catfish while we stayed.Paradise on the Neuse BeachParadise on the Neuse Beach

The access to toilet was the only plus. The site is literally his yard and there isn’t a chance for any privacy. He has his windows open all night and the neighbor was up doing who know what all night. Kayaks were dirty and he lacked fire wood for purchase. Bugs were horrible unfortunately. I don’t recommend bringing your dog unless they are very cool with others as his is not on a leash nor is his neighbors. Make sure you put all your food up or something will get into it ( I know my fault) but a cat (or something I heard hissing- could have been a possum) got into our dry goods and ate the hotdog buns. We paid for two nights but left the morning after we got there. Just not enough privacy.

Response from Steve, the Host, on June 16th, 2022

A three month old baby you brought, kayaks were free and plenty of pics posted showing you the site before hand. I am sorry you did not have a pleasant visit.

Steve was a relaxed and generous host. Site was perfect for our rig and the sunsets and fire pit were magical. Winston the dog was a love, and thr fresh eggs Steve offered made for an epic omelette. Great jumping off point to visit New Bern and Croatan National Forest. Would return In a heartbeat.
