Welcome to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina!

Ashe County the coolest corner of NC.

We are offering a spot to pitch your tent on ridges with never ending views at an altitude of 3,400 ft.

Jefferson and Downtown West Jefferson are 10 minutes away, and Boone only 30 minutes south.

Shatley Springs Restaurant is 4 miles down the road, with a beautiful small town on West Jefferson to your disposal.

We offer a spectrum of campsites from forest to wide open vistas. Each one has its unique charms and beauties. Please look at the photos and descriptions to help you select the site that suits your flavor of camping. Every site features a fire pit and beautiful mountain views. We are asking that you come prepared with a 4wdr or awdr vehicle to the mountains because the ride up is bumpy and can be difficult for low lying cars. Each site allows you to pull your vehicle to the site. The new river is visible from the far reaching open main campsites.

Our Campsites are:

#1 Maple Skyline:

This is our highest elevation campsite. Sunrise and sunset views. This site has a beautiful pair of sugar maple trees that you are able to seek a cool breeze in the hot summer afternoons and still open areas in an retired field for stargazing at night. Stone fire pit also for your outdoor cooking. This site is not near any of our farms animals, so good for your pups to roam and run without distractions if that is desired. Best for ground tents.

#4 Phoenix Vista:

This campsite sits at 3400 ft and have a wonderful in your face view of big phoenix mountain. This site will possibly have one or two of our farms animals exploring about, anything from a small group of our goats, to piglets, to a couple of our lovely majestic Scottish Highland cows. Everyone is calm and peaceful. Ground tents and Rooftop tents are good here.

#2 Sunrise Oak:

Aptly named, you’ll catch the first morning rays at this site. Gorgeous view of the Blue Ridge to the south east. Site has a nice large flat area for multiple tents and vehicles. If you want a sun filled space this site gets lots of it. You will have access to a hike up an old farm road to the top of the mountain where the view changes and could catch the sunset a second time. This site is not near any of our farm's animals, so good for your pups to roam and run without distractions if that is desired. Site good for ground tents, small campers and rooftop tents

#3 Tippidy Top:

The top flat of a peak with long reaching views out to the north. You can catch the sunset over big phoenix mountain also from this site. We find this site to be great for any rooftop tents, vans or small campers. You have a fire pit inside an open forested area with an amazing panoview 5 feet from there. This site has similar views to our phoenix vista site and possibly will have one or two of our farms animals exploring about, anything from a small group of our goats, to piglets, to a couple of our lovely majestic Scottish Highland cows. Everyone is calm and peaceful.

Special Days on the farm and reasons for special rates:

April 24-May 7th  Wild crafted mushrooms and wild leeks for your tastebuds will be harvested for you to purchase and eat with your steaks

May 14-June 14th Fireflies should be out and about dancing in the evening sky

July 3-4th Our fourth of july show! We load up and fire off a good show, 2021 will be our second year

We will make sure you have as much privacy as possible as we enjoy our privacy also. The homestead on the property is off the grid and aiming for sustainability so we are happy to share produced products. Here on the farm we produce Grassfed and NeverGrain Scottish Highland Premium Beef (Ground, Steaks, and Tips), Chicken Eggs (always free ranging, non-gmo and soyfree fed) and our favorite is our season appropriated Wild Crafted Edibles and Medicinals (ask whats in season and we can build you a salad or meal straight from mother earth)

If you are interested in meeting our majestic Scottish Highland calves and bovine please do ask, might be possible a farm tour.

*Please, it is required that you visit and climb the mountain using an all wheel drive or 4wheel drive vehicle since you will be climbing 300 ft to the top and our right of away up is a bit bumpy. If you visit us in a non 4wdr or awdr vehicle you could try the hike up and the walk back to your vehicle to your car is all downhill. If you want to check the weather use the zipcode 28617. We would be happy though if you ask what we think about the upcoming days and will fill you in with our local weather movements on the ground here and forecast (we know better than the weatherman generally!). When you put in your request, include the type of vehicle you will be driving up the mountain and also what type of sleeping arrangements you have, ie ground tents, rooftop or pull behind.

As a guest in our farm you MUST contact us the morning before your arrival with your intentions of arriving the day of our reservation and your estimated time of arrival. If you do not contact us ahead of time before 2pm we will not know if you will be coming or not and could complicate your arrival to camp. The pins locations on our listing's map are marking our meeting place to meet and greet at an acceptable distance and so we can escort you to your campsite. The pins do not mark the campsite.

I have stayed here twice and both experiences were amazing. The spot is secluded and the views are spectacular. Jon was a great, knowledgeable host with a beautiful property. We plan on making at least annual trips here!

This one-night adventure was a last-minute booking on a holiday weekend, no less, and we definitely made the right decision! We stayed at Camp #5 which feels like it’s on top of the world and the views were truly stunning. Wide, flat lot to accommodate our RTT with room to roam, great fire pit setup, open fields of wildflowers and pine leading back to the woods, and, again, the views! We have never taken more panoramic pictures than we did here, from sunset to sunrise and everything in between.

The drive up to the site was bumpy and steep with a few washed out sections of the gravel fire road, so we do recommend 4x4 with decent clearance, but it was easy to navigate up, because of the best part of the entire adventure…Jon! He is awesome. He stayed in constant contact throughout our journey to the site, made multiple recommendations for places to stop along the way, met us at his barn and gave us an overview of the property, the animals, the working farm and then proceeded to guide us all the way up to the site, point out unique features, where to take in the sunset and sunrise and recommend a few hikes we could take right from the site. He even went out of his way to go get firewood and toilet accommodations, as we forgot to bring both. Jon has an amazing attitude and a calming energy, and if nothing else we will come back just to chat with him again.

Jon - thanks so much for making your property available to others and for being such a wonderful host!

More mist in the valley shortly after sunrise. The mist eventually made its way up to the site and washed over us.The sky seemed to evolve around us throughout our stay.Wildflowers in the fore ground and mountains for miles.Sunset taken in from the spot Jon recommended. Simply magical.

My wife, pup and I had a wonderful experience at Jon’s campgrounds in NW, NC. The views alone are enough for you to stop what you’re doing right now and book this gem. We had ample amount of space between all of the different campsites. We knew Jon was only a call or text away if we needed anything. He was very accommodating with firewood, and fresh eggs or grass-fed meat if we needed it. We witnessed one of the most incredible sunrises of our lifetime on this property. Do yourself and favor and get out to this campground. One final note, if your lucky enough to meet Jon’s dog Max, he is the sweetest boy, who quickly became besties with our puppy Basil.
