When we first saw this property we fell in love with it and we hope you can enjoy this little piece of heaven too. Originally we put in the additional site for friends and family to enjoy and then we found Hipcamp and thought, why not?
What I love about the property is the water. It's so relaxing listening to the waves and looking out across the river watching the boats, birds, or dolphins with fish jumping and crab fishermen re-setting their pots. Cherry Point is not far away and we have been delighted by an impromptu fireworks show or a plane fly-by.
Oriental is a small town full of sailboats and the town has a lot going on. They have a website called Towndock to see what's happening. You can grab a coffee or ice cream at The Bean, stroll down the waterfront looking at the boats, and drop a line off the fishing pier. There are some great local restaurants and even a Brewery that hosts food trucks and music on the weekends. You will not be in the middle of nowhere as there is a grocery store, a marine store and a dollar general to pick up supplies.
The Minnesott Ferry (free) is a 10-minute drive and you can get to Beaufort, NC or Atlantic Beach in about an hour.
Welcome! Cara
Extra Info: The camping spot is a pull-in along a shared driveway with my neighbor and so you will be perpendicular to the river, but camping is all about being outdoors and there is the yard, picnic table, and beach to share. We haven't put a firepit in yet, but we plan to. When leaving, you would need to back out, but there is a driveway across the street so there is plenty of room. The reservation will be dependent on the rainfall so I don't have the instant book feature turned on. Because parking is on the grass, if it's really wet, you could get stuck and nobody wants that.

The campsite was beautiful. We would definitely stay again and would recommend this place. Very peaceful.
Key Stone Camp was a great place to stay. Awesome place, awesome hosts. There is nowhere close to this spot that you can set up even remotely this close to the river. Beautifully manicured grass, picnic table, bench swing right on the water, and a small sandy beach. One thing to add about the possibility of wet weather, we stayed during a couple days of rain. There is a large driveway directly across from the camp (Camp Caroline) that has a large driveway you can back out into to turn around if their yard is too wet (that’s what we did with our 34’ pusher) and it was super easy. We will definitely stay there again when we are in the area!
As we drove our RV into Key Stone Camp near Oriental, NC, my husband and I were happy we chose this site! The full hook-ups all worked great and the site was easy to get into with our 32 foot Class C motorhome. Very beautiful camp site on the Neuse River - serene and peaceful. We paddleboarded and kayaked off the cute small, sandy beach. In addition, from this location, you can easily day trip to the Outer Banks or visit Oriental-a neat little town to eat, drink, and stock up on groceries. Also, we were able to visit Beaufort, NC for a few hours. We will definitely return someday!

Backpackers, sailors, divers and other adventurers will understand what I'm about to say. Occasionally in your travels you come upon a place that blows your expectations out of the water. A place where you know that the vast majority of people out there, will never come here, for whatever reason. Oriental North Carolina is off the beaten path. It's the perfect little town, that no one knows about, and as much as the locals love it, I'm not sure they know what they have. Heather and I loved our time here at Key Stone Camp so much that we started looking for land to buy in the area. We started planning our next trip to stay here on Jason and Cara's property before we left.
If your looking for a quiet, unique place, with beautiful views and people, than you'll love it here. If your looking for an awesome fishing trip, a sailing adventure, or just a place with incredible views to relax, than you will love this place. Don't be surprised if you find yourself paroosing the real estate market. Just don't go and tell everyone about this spot, we are hoping it stays just like it is for a bit longer.
