About the Property:
Hippie Holler campsite is a very private, quiet, safe and peaceful place to relax and recharge. You'll find a mowed grassy field, surrounded by beautiful woods and open skies above as well as some wooded sites. There is level gravel for parking on as well, and the property is accessible by any type of vehicle - it's smooth. It gets very dark at night here and it's the perfect setting for *Fireflys* and ☆stargazing☆! The property is near Crowders Mountain Park, which has great hiking, paddling, fishing, and rock climbing opportunities. Lake Wylie (really pretty kayaking ,canoeing and boating), US Whitewater Center, and Carowinds amusement park are also nearby. There are plenty of ways to get outside around here and find something that everyone will enjoy! Hippie Holler is conveniently located just 30 minutes from Charlotte, NC where you will find restaurants, breweries, cool shops, and much much more. Charlotte is a great city and a fun day trip if you've never been!
This property was a dairy farm many years ago, and the home was built around 1850. The old cement silo still stands, and it's really neat because it looks like a castle turret. We have plans to turn it into a unique place to stay in the future! Were going on our 3rd year hosting now and have made great improvements little by little. This property is too cool not to share with others who appreciate historical places and quirky, down to earth hosts! We love meeting new people! We will meet guests upon arrival, and then we respect your privacy for the duration of your stay. However, we are always available if needed.
We hope you enjoy the history, the stunning 300 year old oak trees, and the quirky touches as much as we do!
About the Listing:
Come and pitch your tent on the shady tree line on the mowed grassy area or a cleared spot in the woods, plenty of space on 5 acres of land! All sites are a first-come-first-serve basis, so take your pick.
Each site has chairs, a side table, picnic table and personal fire pit for your enjoyment. Relax and chill around your camp, enjoy the communal Zen deck where you can do yoga,meditate, etc, under the colorful sail shades or the shady hammock hangout with hummingbirds and drippy lights at night! partake in some yard games we have. Our property is very quiet and you will rarely hear a car or neighborhood people. You may hear owls, distant roosters, or horses, but it's pretty quiet overall. We do have multiple sites, so you may see other campers in passing. But definitely not crowded like generic camps, perfect for introverts and noise sensitive folks!
We have a tap/spigot on the property for potable water, and there are clean porta potties for your comfort.
We have some wonderful extras that you can add on to your booking if you'd like! Some fun ones include: breakfast, home-cooked seasonal dinners, tiki torch rentals, and more There is a pull cart that you can use to take your gear the very short distance to your campsite. If you have a lot of stuff we can help run your things with the super snazzy tractor cart!
Additional Details to Note:
- Check-in is after 2pm and check-out is before 12pm
- No check-ins after dark!!! Campers must be checked in by 8 pm EST/ before dark. Plan accordingly and map out West Gastonia, NC. There will be a $10 cash late fee for each hour after 8pm.
- When you arrive, please stop in the driveway for a meet and greet, parking instructions, etc.
- Obviously you can come n go after that, its just way too dark to set up after dark. We have wifi and cell reception is good! Feel free to unplug though.
- For campfires: Hardwood is available for purchase. We do not allow wood to be brought in, as it can harbor unwanted insects not native to Hippie Holler. We can get your fire started for you (see extras)!
- We welcome your well behaved pets! They can be off leash if they are friendly,mind the yard and other campers.. For insurance purposes,we do not allow pitbulls or other aggressive dog breeds. If you show up with a pitbull, you will be turned away with no refund, sorry, we love dogs and even offer dog-sitting as an extra!! Discounts on 7 day bookings, message me before booking.

WOW. A much much much needed get away. Amazing time. Sherry was amazing. Convinced her to hangout with me and my boyfriend and she was such a good time. I cannot wait to visit again. 10/10
This host knows how to make her property your home. Lots of incredible spots to camp &relax as well as enjoy nature. I am inspired by her transformation of the property into such a welcoming space for campers looking for an alternative to hotels and the average campsite. Nothing about this place is "normal". It's inspiring.

Overall we had a good experience. Sherry was very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately we were expecting a spacious private campsite, but instead it was about 25 feet from the host’s house and in what was a big backyard rather than a field. The listing could be more accurate and it seemed to oversell the property. We did feel very safe and it was nice to see stars and hear lots of country wildlife.

This place was perfect and absolutely adorable. The host was so welcoming and friendly. A few options of places to set up personal tents. There is a GORGEOUS yurt tucked more privately in the woods as well. We returned late at night after a concert and the property was so cool and chill at night. Lots of adorable lights to set the mood to relax. Hammock provided! We will absolutely frequent this place any time we visit the charlotte area. Way better than a hotel!! As long as you don’t mind ‘real’ camping. Water, an outside shower, & compost toilet are also on the property. Just don’t trip and fall knocking down the toilet tent like I did. With that said- toilet stayed in place and saved me from a terrible time 😂❤️ Loved it here. A very all welcoming place!

Mystical fairyland outside the city
Sherry was the perfect host for our last minute trip! Her property is beautifully decorated with dreamy, colorful lights and groovy artistic touches. Many hang out options including a covered hammock impossible to get out of. Last but certainly not least, the scrumptiously delicious breakfast. Best homemade French toast we’d ever had 🤤 overall an amazing experience and sweetest host! Would absolutely return to Sherry Land 🧚♀️ 💫 🦋 🌈 🌝 if you’re looking for a unique escape, this is the place 🌍

Awesome space with great facilities in a super convenient location; ton of outdoor adventures near by. Sherry is a super host and maintenances a really, in her words, “groovy” site. Multiple seating areas and deck spaces to chill, and a great fire pit area, we will be staying again!
