This site is voted Best View in Western North Carolina by Hipcamp Scouts and Hipcampers ! Top ten in the US of all Hipcamp sites. At a 4,550 foot elevation, Haw Ridge has nearly 360 Degree Views on a clear ridge with great visibility. Catch both the sunrise and the sunset. On foggy morning the mist rolls right over the ridge top. There are 2  sites on one acre so plenty of space for social distancing! Please read listing completely about what type of vehicle is required.

Pet friendly, no leash needed as long as you stay on the property. It's two camp sites total.  Just be respectful of other campers and property owners.

Extremely private, only two sites on the entire mountain. The rest of the mountain is privately held but there are no houses or other sites. Great "light pollution free" sky for stargazing, no street or city lights. Good vehicle clearance is a must for drive to the top.

This is a one acre site that can accommodate a maximum of two camper groups. There are trees and brush separating the two sites so plenty of privacy. You can purchase firewood at the local supermarket in Mars Hill. Site 1 is surrounded by trees, and it is the first spot you come to on the left, Site 2 is on the edge of the tree line. The sites are clearly numbered. Sites can be selected at time of booking, for sites 1 or 2. The right side of the field with the cross is owned by a different party, please respect their space.

**4 Wheel Drive/AWD is required (high clearance vehicles.) Please add what type of vehicle/vehicles you will be in when booking.**

Please do not move the picnic tables and remove all your trash.

Enjoy the view and your stay !!

Rocky Fork State Park Tn. is just a short drive away for some great additional hiking ,swimming and fishing.

What a STUNNING location. My partner and I had the best thanksgiving up there. I absolutely recommend this spot. Aside from all the other feedback from other reviews, I want to really emphasize the WIND. Factor that into your planning and have a great time.

This is a beautiful spot with 360 degree views! The road leading up the mountain is large rocks -- not just gravel. There were a few spots that I'm not sure we would have made it through without 4-wheel drive!

It's definetly worth the drive up -- so quite, very isolated, and amazing views.

This is an amazing primitive campsite about 40 minutes north of Asheville! You will need a high clearance vehicle w/ 4x4 to get there. The only amenity is a picnic table and a fire ring so make sure that you come prepared with food, water, and firewood. I had a very strong signal there with T-Mobile.

I loved my stay here. The site was beautiful, and easy to access. I even came back for a second time, and the stay was better than the first! Hosts were helpful, and responsive. Definitely want to come back to rent a canoe!

This was a wonderful experience. The only flaw was that it was difficult for my group to find. There is no direct address, and somehow we found written directions but I cannot find them again to post in my review. Just make sure you look up airport drive on the maps and if you go through the tunnel you are on the right track. We had so much fun making the fire and waking up to see a beautiful sunrise! Please book this spot and go!!!

An absolute must!! Peter's site is absolutely stunning - incredible 360 views! The drive up the mountain was beautiful but definitely take into consideration the other comments warning about needing 4WD/AWD - we had a Yukon and it faired pretty well. It was pretty cloudy and cold while we were there but it really didn't take away from anything because the view was so incredible. Quiet and relaxing! Had one pair of locals come up but other than that we had no other visitors!

We had a great time at Peters campsite. It had a picnic table and fire pit you’ll need to plan for all needs aside from those. It was exciting getting there you get to drive through a cool tunnel. In terms of wild life we only encountered a deer, birds, and chipmunks. You can GPS to Black Bear Realty and it will get you closer than GPS-ing to the lodge. The views you see in some of the main reviews are for spot number 2. We picked spot number one which had views through the trees. If you want the almost 360 degree view pick spot number 2.

Getting to the campsite! Views from the path to the campsite. October. Getting to the campsite! Views from the path to the campsite. October.

Beautiful spot up on top of the mountain! So secluded with crazy views!

Our stay had some crazy wind which I imagine is normal on top of a mountain like that. We came prepared so it wasn’t an issue!
