This is such a magical place! We eloped in Trust and only had one night to spend here, but we will certainly be back. The tent is very spacious and the bed is extremely comfortable. Phillip knew we had just eloped and was very thoughtful by putting the beds together. We slept beautifully - especially with the rain tapping on the tin roof. This was the perfect end to our day!

I enjoyed my stay very much. It was very peaceful and quite. The woods surrounding the camp are beautiful. Being right next to the AT and Max Patch was a nice addition.

Phillip and Ruthy are amazing hosts! Very helpful with navigation and willing to answer any questions. This was the best experience I’ve had, hands down. Thank you so, so much for opening up your land. We will definitely be back!

Greenheart Place really is a special place and Ruthy and Phillip are special people! The campsite, glamping tent, and lodge were all immaculate. One of the things that I don't like about camping is hauling up a wet campsite in the rain, and I'm batting 1.000 lifetime on rain-camping (even when I pack an umbrella and rain jacket!). The glamping tent is my new insurance policy. We packed a cooler, kitchen, and clothes, and were all set. The tent is very spacious and has a front room and back room, with a divider wall you can zip open/closed for privacy (and late sleepers). The camp chairs in the front room are comfy and I lingered there a lot, just relaxing, reading, and drinking coffee. The beds are also comfy, with nice linens, blankets, and pillows, and a great little dimmable electric lantern on the nightstand. I slept like a baby every night. Just off to the side of the site and up a few steps is a large fire ring and picnic table, with a great view of the forest. The setting is private and quiet but still easy to get to. There are many great hikes you can take directly from the camp site or within a short drive by car, but my favorite is the hike through the Rhododendron Tunnel and up to the top of Max's Patch, a spectacular bald with a 360 degree view of the NC and TN mountain ranges. It's also only a short drive to Hot Springs, a fun little town right on the Appalachian Trail. I would recommend printing off a google map to the longitude/latitude coordinates you'll receive, as cell/GPS coverage will likely be spotty at best. The bathrooms/showers in the lodge are super clean and luxurious, and the gardens/flowers around the lodge make for a nice peaceful walk. When the inevitable rain came on the morning of departure, I sat and read a little more while the rain tapped peacefully on the tin roof structure protecting the tent/site. Reluctantly, we finally popped open the umbrellas and decamped, dry as a bone.

This place was so serene and David and his son Phillip were so welcoming. This was our first glamping experience and it was one to remember. The tent was nice a spacious, the scenery was beautiful. The accommodations for showering and the restroom in the main house were all accommodating. Sunny (the furry friend) was sweet and a great guard puppy. Cooking over an open fire, the mountain fresh air, the beauty of nature…..this was an experience we both needed and will forever treasure. The healing power of Nature.

My spouse got sick day two unexpectedly and Philip was more than generous in helping to attend to our every need. We had to call EMS and she had to be transported to the hospital but they took care of our vehicle, belongings and even kept check on us to make sure she was okay until we returned to the site to retrieve our items. The genuine love and humility they showed was heartfelt and humbling. We will forever be grateful and we will be back!

If you desire a place to get away Max Patch is not far for a great picnic on the mountain. This location is amazing and the owners are amazing! We will definitely be returning!

So grateful for your recovery, and so glad to be able to help out! Many thanks to our volunteer rescue folks who responded in this very rural area as quickly as any in an urban area!

This place and the people who run it are beautiful and amazing. We had to get in very late or after hours and they were VERY accommodating and stayed up really late to meet and greet us. The tent was amazing , very large in a serine setting. Would highly recommend and will be coming back. The farm that they own and invited us over too was a gem as well ..

What a beautiful property! And What a lovely family hosting it. The zen gardens are gorgeous. The lodge is rustically beautiful. I found a lovely, quiet spot on the porch to use Wi-Fi and check in with work and home. I chose this location because of the access to Max patch. It’s a beautiful hike through the forest to get there and the views from the top were spectacular. I have always lived near the Smoky Mountains and this was probably the most beautiful view I’ve ever seen. I’m a novice at camping and have only recently dipped my feet in through glamping. .This was a bit more primitive for a glamping experience because there was no electric or Wi-Fi. There’s not much nearby so make sure you pack what you need. The fire pit accompanying the tent was a really neat spot. And there’s a larger community fire pit near the Zen Gardens. There’s also a pavilion that was strung with lights. It was a very festive weekend for this family and I was graciously invited to join in the celebration. If you’re looking for some quality mountain time in a lovely place with some good people this is your spot.

Where should I start? Greenheart Forest is a magical place. We could feel the thoughtfulness and intention put into every design, from the unique artistry of the lodge to the small hidden garden paths. Plants, animals, and fungi thrive here in this lush piece of HEAVEN ON EARTH. From the moment Thomas and I arrived, I could feel the stress I had been carrying just roll off of me. We haven't been camping in a while, so Thomas and I chose the glamping tent to ease ourselves back into it. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Jim and Kulani who gave us a hand-drawn map of the camp and even walked us to our site giving helpful tips along the way. The walk from the parking lot to the glamping tent is a nice 100-200 ft walk past an outdoor kitchen (they are currently working on) and the serene meditation gardens. We were able to drive halfway to our site to unload some things before returning our vehicle back to the parking area for the night.
The glamping tent was perfect! There are two comfy twin-size beds, two camping chairs, and a table inside this large tent! Just a short walk up to the left of the tent is a nice fire ring and a picnic table where I shared my morning coffee time with Sunny the big lab puppy! What a sweety!
There is no flushing toilet near the site but back at the lodge, there is a bathroom and a warm shower. The walk is quite nice, and I found something new to take a picture of each time I made it (not to mention gathering fresh blueberries)!
During our short stay, we had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Jennette, David, and Philip about their journeys and roles and the creation of this beautiful vision and place.
On our last day there David took us to the Greenheart Forest Farm and gave us a lovely tour of the permaculture gardens and charming cabins and barns being designed and built in a sustainable and conscious manner.
What a wonderful experience and an awe-inspiring camping adventure! We will definitely be staying in touch with all the folks at Greenheart Forest and look forward to coming back when we can stay a bit longer. Thank you all! We love what you are doing. Keep up the good (hard) work! It is needed and appreciated. #glampinggreenheartforest

The lodge porch has a beautiful view and WI-FI if you need it. This glamping tent is huge! Max Patch and the Appalachian trail! Meditation Garden
