Nestle your RV or camper at the top of our property on the Second Broad River, overlooking the rest of the camp. A former gold-panning operation, our small slice of paradise was once part of the country’s first gold rush. You’ll have access to our many fire pits, relaxing common spaces, a riverfront beach, pavilion, and communal grills. The rental fee includes the use of gold pans and shovels so you can try your luck at striking it big! The RV site can hold up to four guests. Pets are welcome.

As a guest at the RV site, you’ll have access to the amenities that are shared by the campground’s other campers, such as the modern and clean bathhouse, pavilion, and gas and propane grills. This RV site’s open space offers ample parking for a larger vehicle and is the only camper spot on the property at this time. It offers a 30-amp hookup, water, and a dump station (the other sites offer only van spaces with 110 plug-ins). The pull-in space can accommodate up to 50 feet in length on a grassy surface. Generators are not allowed.

About 10 miles north, the town of Marion has food options, stores, and services. Head to Lake James State Park about 20 miles north for swimming, boating, and fishing, or visit South Mountains State Park about 40 miles east to go hiking and check out the 80-foot waterfall. For amazing views of the mountains, don’t miss Chimney Rock State Park.

Boutique mountain retreat

Gold River Camp is the boutique mountain retreat you’ve been dreaming of. There are lots of beautifully appointed common areas with fire pits, grills, seating, and hammocks, along with an adorable open air lounge equipped with books, board games, barstools, panning supplies (for gold panning in the stream) and fully decorated for Christmas. This is exactly the place you want to come if you’re looking for a family and dog friendly getaway.

The RV site sits on the top of the hill overlooking the rest of the camp, and the adorable cabins, and with a view of the stream. The site is unpaved, and you’ll need to bring plenty of blocks for leveling your rig, and depending on weather conditions, you may need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The septic hookup is a little further from the water and power than we are used to, so we used it to dump the tanks just before we pulled out, instead of staying hooked up to it. There is no wifi or cell service, which makes it the perfect opportunity to get unplugged. The site has a charcoal grill, a propane grill, a fire pit, and a picnic table.

The hosts are so kind, attentive, helpful, and communicative. We really enjoyed our stay there and cannot wait to book again in the summer.
