Second time I’ve camped here. Stayed a week this time. I loved it here. Couldn’t ask for a better host than Lea. Reasonable privacy in the back of her property. Friendly goats. Love, love, love Three Oaks!
Such a pretty and cute area, perfect for a single night stay but would love to come back for longer to explore more!
I loved everything about this place... remote and quite (aside from the rooster, but what a great alarm clock!), Lea, the hostess, was super friendly and helpful, real southern hospitality at it’s finest. Half hour drive into Durham, 20 minutes to Hillsborough and some great BBQ, I was told Saxaphaw is a neat little town, but with COVID and a lack of time, I didn’t get to check it out. Already looking forward to visiting Lea and their goats next summer!
We had a lovely time staying here! Hosts were friendly and accommodating. My son had a great time petting the goats and watching the chickens, and we enjoyed the swings and built a little camp fire. The fire pit and suggested sites aren't far from the house, so it's not the most isolated experience, but Lea suggested if we wanted more privacy we could set up in the trees further back on the property. I'm sure that would have been a totally different vibe and also fun, but we were happy to stay close, and Lea and her son were kind enough to share the many outside toys with us, and welcomed us to explore the beautiful garden as well. Very warm and family friendly experience, I would definitely recommend if you have kids, or if you just need a relaxing place to stop over.
The hosts were incredibly accommodating and available; we arrived to walk through a gorgeous yard filled with gardens, tall oaks, and free-range chickens back to our camp site beside an enclosure of four adorable goats. We moved our camp site back within the trees for more privacy; the site was fairly private and just a short walk from our cars. An incredibly friendly and fluffy cat visited us every night that we stayed; the hosts provided us a lightweight fire pit for a campfire, and offered us a hose for water. The surrounding area is filled with gorgeous rolling hills of farmland and trees, just a ten-twenty minute drive from the store or from the quirky town nearby. Overall, we had a fantastic time! Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a trip that is not too far from regular comforts!
