Gorgeous site in a very cool location. We spent the day overlanding in through the National Forest Service roads. When we arrived we were blown away by how much better this site was than any of the dispersed sites we passed earlier in the day.

The folks in the other reviews are right that the pictures don't do it justice. The site itself is immaculate (thanks everyone before us) and more than enough for two people or a small family. Near enough to other dwellings and civilization that you don't have to worry if there's an emergency or you forget something, but secluded enough that all you will hear and see is the running water.

Brian was a great host - checking in to make sure we were happy but not being obtrusive. He seemed to care about the site and wanted to make sure it's ready for guests.

We didn't know if it was a thing, but before we left we found a nice rock and added it to the collection at the start of the path down to the site. If you see Old Stripey in there, tell him we say hi!

First thing I noticed was how good it smells out there, the ground is soft and loamy, I backed in on a gravel pad and immediately saw the water that I followed up West Buffalo. The entire site is under a high canopy and was nice and cool a small amount of bug spray kept the bugs disinterested for hours. The privy is top notch and stocked with a bit of extra t.p. it's watertight and smells like cut wood instead of poo. Beautiful little plantings and along the pathway. The platform is nice and level with trees right up against on 2 sides (it made it a bit harder to put tent poles in but kept it much more aesthetically nestled away). The Creek is beautiful shallow enough to splash around in with boulders scattered around for fun rock hopping. There are other sites maybe 200 yards up and probably below the site but, the only time we saw anyone else was when we were leaving on sunday so it felt incredibly private and restful. The firepit area is very well planned out (bring your own wood) with a cast iron Bali Stove. I've never used one before but we found it super efficient for burning and very easy to light. There are rakes to groom the trails and a broom to sweep the bathroom and tent platform. Overall: I want to live there and it was the best possible Hipcamp introduction I could have hoped for. Brian was great and sent appropriate instructions and let us know before and after when other campers were either leaving or heading our direction. Keep it nice it's a little gem and I'm most likely coming back soon.

Thank You Skeeter. True story here; I was working downstream a different potential tent site location, when my girlfriend, Amy says, " Hey, come look at this!" I went up there and was awestruck at the view, the terraced land all the way down to the creek, and the incredible golden light filtering down through the trees. Duh!! Well, that became Heartstone. It was named for the large, heart shaped rock that used to sit on the side of the road where the parking now is! I am so pleased (and relieved) that my first guests enjoyed and saw what I truly felt was a beautiful, private, and unspoiled place. All the best, Brian

Beautiful campsite, the photos do not do it justice. The platform is a great level area to put your tent and there are a couple of spots for hammocks if you are creative with your straps. There is zero reception which is a wonderful way to unplug and get the full effect of getting away.

The firepit feature was unique and requires less wood than a standard campfire does. The fireflies do a wonderful show at night lighting up the darkness over the stream. Make sure to check out the stars from the road it's an amazing sight.

The bathroom is clean and doesn't smell of anything but fresh lumber and was a great add to the campsite so far remote.

We also enjoyed going to the Yellow Branch Pottery and Cheese shop as well as the honey store in Robbinsville, driving the skyline and going to the Maple Spring Overlook.

Brian the host was very responsive and positive, I would go back again.

This campsite is absolutely magical! The photos don’t do its beauty justice.

Overall, the site is immaculate. There’s a platform to pitch a tent, a picnic table for eating and food prep, and beautiful fire pit area. The scenery is so lovely you’ll never want to leave.

My boyfriend and I spent our anniversary here and can’t wait to return for a longer stay!

This place is awesome! My husband and I and our two dogs had the best time. It’s shady and cool, and the sound of running water helped us sleep so soundly. We stomped up and down the creek, walked along the road and trail, and hung hammocks for afternoon naps. Our dogs got to run and play freely and we only saw a couple other folks going by on ATV’s when we were there. Love Heartstone!

The campground was absolutely stunning. Bathroom was sparkling clean and the table/ grill area was in good condition ( there was even extra charcoal!). The site is right on the river and falling asleep to the sounds of the running water was so relaxing. At dusk the fire flies came out and it made the entire experience even more magical. 10/10 would recommend. Thanks Brian!
