The campsite was a little difficult for us to find and the stairs were hard to navigate and lift/tie-down paddleboards.
Overall the campsite was clean and the compostable toilet was easy to use! We would reserve here again.
Beautiful open wood campsites
Enjoyed the campsite. Beautiful open woods. Well groomed grass. Should have packed a hammock. Stephen came and met us. Was very accommodating. It was July 4th and Stephen recommended we walk around one of his cornfields to get the best view of fireworks from a nearby development. We also got a fantastic RC airplane aerobatic show from a nearby RC airfield.
We came by river. The takeout on river left is a little hard to see behind bushes. Campsites are up and left.
Would definitely stay again.
5/5 stars. Awesome site, would recommend. Was the first stop on our trip of the French broad river paddle trail. Steve was extremely accommodating, responsive and made our stay well worth it. Will be back!
Great place for kayak/camping trip
My wife and I recently stayed one night a Rhodes Ranch on our 3 day, 2 night kayak camping trip down the French Broad. The campsites were large with plenty of distance from each other. There were plenty of trees to hang our hammocks and firewood to scavenge for a fire. One of the takeouts from the river is a steep set of rock steps. We did scrape the bottom of our kayaks pretty well on thee steps, so I would recommend unloading them as much as possible before taking them out of the river. There is a pretty steep and muddy take out to the left of the stairs. We used this to put our boats back in the water to avoid additional wear on our boats. Overall, a great place to camp, just be careful getting in and out of the river.
Had a great time camping. Perfect place to hang up a hammock and listen to the river. Be advised, it is a working farm so there will be farm equipment driving around the property depending on the season. Also bring bug repellent. I got swarmed by mosquitos when I arrived, but they disappeared after I applied some DDT. Overall was a really nice place to camp.
