Great for retreats aways from life
Highly recommend WHF. Beautiful area, beautiful scenery, very kind and courteous host. Also, you'd be missing out if you didn't get a horseback riding lesson. It was my first time riding and Ken was an excellent and thorough instructor.
Hot showers are a plus! Be wary of going during colder months because the door has a screen; very drafty. Also, watch out for deer ticks.
Fun weekend getaway
Stayed at Willow Hill Farm Cabins with a group of myself and 6 of my college friends. We spontaneously booked the trip for this past weekend to do something new and to hike Mount Marcy (about an hour drive away from the cabins). We did not regret it! None of us had much camping experience so the cabin was a nice middle ground. Definitely necessary to be prepared for the cold since but having power, outlets, bathrooms and warm showers was a plus. I highly recommend.
We rented a cabin, but ended up sleeping on the platform as it was a little chilly. We could insulate the tent better to keep warm. The cabin only had opaque shutters and screens. The cabin was what you would expect from a post season summer camp. They did put a queen bed inext the bunks, but it was just nicer to be outside in our tent.
Ken the host was very accommodating.
The bathrooms and showers could be cleaner, but hey, it's a camp.
Property was good. Had enough space for 8 people to sleep, but Owner failed to mention that we have to bring our own blankets and sheets. Other than this the location of this camp is beautiful.
Great americans awesome property...
These camps are a fantastic value. They have horses and the people seem fantastic. The area does have at&t cell service. The owners husband was a ww2 veteran so really it was great all around.
They will be renovating the cabins to accommodate a wider variety of patrons in the future yet now the tent camping and cabins are an awesome value.
They have horses and it is very child friendly. It is the most spectacular thing watching your kids ride horses, these ones were ponies actually. So bring your children ready to learn. Horse riding lessons were a great value. They were allowed to bring apples this was also nice. I learned about horses for free.
Take the Ferry Across from Vermont.
Me and a group of 3 others had a great time at the Willow Hill Farm cabin! We came in not sure what to expect but it ended up being great. The cabins are located in a secluded area on a beautiful ground. The bathroom are 30 yards away and there are a number of great fire pits. The cabins aren’t anything crazy, but that’s okay because it’s camping! We came October 1st and were quite cold during the night but with a sleeping bag and warm blankets we were able to make it through. The hot showers made our stay even better! 55 minutes to lake placid and a variety of high peaks. The town is a also a short 10 minute drive! We will be coming again!
A campsite with charm!
Wonderful stay after a full day of hiking. The best part - HOT showers!! The site was well maintained and private, with gorgeous views of the fall foliage. We would absolutely stay here again.
