hi campers!!i would definitely stay here again as this site particular had full privacy no other campsite near it, so you can just relax with whoever you are with and enjoy peace and quiet!the river is a short walk and full of fish, i stayed for 6 days and caught over 50 fish!lots of places nearby to get food and ice cream, also walking trails less than 2 miles down the road around a lake.
This place was absolute paradise! Situated on the back of a large field, just up the hill from the Wallkill River, this quiet little place was the perfect spot to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. There were sites close by but far enough that you couldn’t hear anything from them. A short walk takes you to the banks of the Wallkill, offering kayak rentals for those who want to explore and fish! There are tons of fish for the fishermen (caught the biggest catfish I’ve ever caught here, about 15-16 inches long) and the wildlife here is amazing.
The site itself offered everything you need while still keeping the “camping” vibe, the yurt was extremely clean and spacious. A small solar pack gives enough power for lights and charging your phone at night. A small fire pit, picnic table, and charcoal grill are all on site as well. Fire wood can either be brought in or purchased on premises as well. There’s also a restroom available just a short walk from the site.
As experience goes, this is like an oasis that makes you feel so far from the world, but able to take a short 5 minute ride to great restaurants. The Wallkill river has a small dam close to site so you can hear the waterfall from site, I can’t recommend this place enough, and can’t wait to return!
Sarah was so accommodating and gets right back to you! Thank you so much Sarah for hosting us!
The location is across the river from a city winery that is opened late, so the noise was very loud. If you are looking for a more secluded and quiet spot, this may not be a spot for you. The hosts were very nice and were good with communicating.
We loved our stay! We expected an empty tent but found that it had a double size inflatable camping pad, lights, charging docks and a few games which was great. The campsite is lovely and welcoming with hanging plants and solar lighting. The river is a little murky, but my dig would have gone in with no problem :) Would definitely stay again!
We had such a wonderful time here, the yurt was clean and spacious. The farm is so beautiful and quiet, we swam in the lake a couple times and cooked hot dogs and burgs over the fire. The dogs had a blast as well, 10/10 will definitely come back! The host was very polite and quick to respond, her dad was also super friendly when we missed the turn at the Y, he pointed us in the right direction :)
Beautiful field for running around, tent was awesome with a mat and quilt in case you didn’t bring stuff, picnic table and plants and trees all so beautiful. We loved that we had another campsite nearby but we felt really secluded at the same time. River is awesome. Bring inner tubes for floating! Hardly any current. Def recommend!!
Wallkill river yurt
The campsite is in a beautiful location along the river. However the Yurt site is located above the river and on a bit of an incline. You can hear the sound of the City Winery waterfall as you sleep but there is also some noise from traffic but not bad. It’s about a 2 min walk to the outhouse. The stars in the big field are incredible and the fireflies are magical. Don’t forget your hammock like I did! Sarah is a great host and I love the quaint little touches like the hanging plants and succulents at the picnic table. Definitely check it out for yourself!
We loved camping in the yurt on Sarah’s farm. It’s a beautiful spot, very peaceful, relaxing, and welcoming. It provides a clean spot with all the basics one needs without having to haul and set-up everything yourself. It was just what we were looking for on our one night camp out for Father’s Day.
The town of Montgomery and Walden were also a great part of our stay. We enjoyed visiting the Angry Orchard. The downtowns and restaurants were very Americana. Loved.
