These are designated primitive campgrounds and are accessible only by walking or hiking in. There is an unloading area at the top of the hill, then a short distance for designated parking. They are numbered 16-39 and 41-59. Kids 15 and under are free so don't include them in your headcount!

The Heron is a mindful community, raising conscious vibrations through art, music, farming, education and events while enriching lives and the land. There are some weekends that are closed on HipCamp (they show sold out) where we are having ticketed mini-music festival events on land. Information on those events can be found on our main website.

The Heron grounds boast a swimming and fishing pond and over 4 miles of on-site hiking trails. Located on over 400 acres in beautiful Chautauqua County, NY, we are a working organic farm with a shiitake mushroom yard and on-site farm store.

We host educational workshops, captivating music festivals, and much more!

We offer many different options for camping, from tent sites nestled in the woods to RV sites with electric hook-ups (electric site reservations are to be made on that specific listing and are limited).

We allow pets, all dogs must on a leash 6ft or shorter in length and held by an adult, there is a $20/stay pet fee for pets that can be paid prior to arrival. Bear in mind there is a limit of 5 pets permitted on land at any time.

Local Attractions: Panama Rocks, Chautauqua Institute, Chautauqua Lake Overland Trail (The Westside of Trail) over 35 miles of hiking, Chautauqua Gorge, Audubon Nature Center, Rails to Trails, Ellicottville Brewery, Southern Tier Brewery & Distillery, Lake Erie Wine Trail, and much more!

Please contact us with questions and inquiries. Cheers!

The Heron is a fantastic campground and so, so much more. Plenty of things to do like swimming, hiking, and so much more. Very reasonably priced and friendliest staff you'll ever meet.

I love The Heron! It’s a magical and beautiful place. I always feel at home. Check-in is seamless. I stayed on Buffalo Byway (as I always do). It is easy to navigate to your campsite and through the woods. there is plenty of firewood in the forest along with good logs for sale. They have pretty lights and art installations throughout the land. The sound is perfect for shows. The food they sell is delicious and nutritious! I absolutely love everything. You can see frogs and salamanders in addition to the beautiful human animals. I recommend this place 100 times over

There should be a disclaimer for this site number and probably site number 21, as far as accessibility— we didn’t realize it was going to be so far away from everything—but we had a great time anyways.

This weekend at The Heron was one of the best of the summer. We paired it with a local cycling event. The music, food, and hospitality at the campground was delightful. Thank you for creating this magical place.
