We always look forward to camping at the Heron! Since the cost is per person, it can get pricier for larger groups. But, it's worth it to us. The sites are spacious, as well as the campground itself. We love walking around the grounds. The Wearyland loop is our favorite - it's wooded and quiet, a short walk to the center of the campground. We got steaks from the farm store when we arrived and cooked them up for dinner the next day - they were fantastic! We came on an "off" weekend (no live music or ticketed admission), so it was especially quiet. But, this also allowed us to check out later, so we could take our time and enjoy the morning/afternoon before packing up. We're already planning on returning before the summer ends! I would highly recommend the Heron!
The property was so peaceful. Beautiful scenery. Very kind and helpful staff. We look forward to our return.
The Heron staff were so friendly and helpful, site 24 was perfect for a secluded and quiet weekend with the creek in the background! Loved being able to buy fresh meat from the farms store as well.
Not good for off season camping
I would not recommend this camp in the off season. When we got there, the person that was there to greet us was very nice and as helpful as he could be but there was no communication from the people that run the camping portion and he did not know we were coming. He did his best to show us where we could stay but everything was very run down. It is advertised to have bathrooms and showers and the bathrooms were portapottys which was fine but the showers were not set up and the water wasn't even turned on so we couldn't even take a shower. Im sure this place could have potential in peak camping season but a week ago, it was very uncomfortable. My mom and I ended up leaving and getting a hotel because we were that unsettled.
We loved our overnight experience at The Heron ~ Good vibes, live music, friendly everybody, farm store is great, campsite 3 next to pond is magical and trick or treating was the best!!!
This is a beautiful campground nestled in the woods. We had such a great time hiking in the woods and exploring the grounds. The host was super friendly and helpful. The organic mushroom farm is a must see. So interesting to see how they do that. I would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay.
Great place to stay, amazing vibes, good tunes. Hipcamp dropped the ball on my reservation though. But the great people at the Heron got me squared away
