The Rose Quartz site is at the back end of the field area of the farm. It offers both privacy and the best views of the ridge across the beautiful Hurley Flats.

A stone fire ring, picnic table and some wood for your first fire will be waiting for you. From the front of the site you can see our market garden. Depending on the season you will see tulips, beets and onions sprouting, tomatoes climbing up their trellis, melons soaking up the sun or corn and sunflowers waving in the wind. The bees from our colorful hives will be busy pollinating the crops and gathering nectar.

Off to the left and tucked into the trees are our two chicken coops.  Our hens and roosters play an important role in the sustainable agricultural practices we use on the farm.

Our lovely ladies provide us with delicious and colorful eggs each day. Your breakfast at the farm can't get any fresher... sunny side up eggs dripping yolk onto fresh local bread, fresh melons and berries still warm from the sun, sweet honey and local milk in your coffee. A true farm to table meal is possible year round in our beautiful valley! Most weekends a breakfast basket full of our produce and goodies from other local growers is available.

From your site you can walk down into our lush forest. If you are quiet you are certain to see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and deer as you walk along the creek and explore the mossy rocks and tiny waterfalls. If you follow the marked bushwack trail you will be guided over fallen trees and through breaks in historic stone walls then, across the creek and up the hill you will come out onto the O&W Rail Trail. This 27 mile trail is perfect for hiking, biking and strolling. In some segments it is smoothly paved and others it is gravel. From this trail you can access multiple parks, libraries and museums if you are looking for a long hike or ride.

We are centrally located between Kingston, Kerhonkson, Woodstock and New Paltz and all are about a scenic 20 minutes drive.  The NYS Thruway is less than 10 minutes away if you are travelling through.

The Rondout Valley is home to multiple breweries, amazing restaurants, luxurious spas, places to kayak, fish, swim... or you could spend your entire visit at the farm reading a good book and enjoying beautiful sunsets.

PLEASE NOTE:

-We are a working farm that uses sustainable organic methods.  There are bugs (ants, ticks, bees, mosquitos, etc) and areas with long grass.  We keep the grass at the campsites short but you will have long grass around you.  That long grass is home to numerous kinds of birds that only live in that type of habitat.  Poison ivy is also possible when out in nature, we do NOT spray any chemicals on ANY of our land.

-The sites are within earshot to the chicken coops, we DO have roosters and you WILL hear them.

-There are wild animals around the farm.  You should store away all food and garbage when you are not at the campsite.  We would like to keep them cautious of humans and not a nuisance!

-On holiday weekends we do have a minimum night stay.

The space was great. As a solo female traveler I definitely felt safe which is the most important thing for me. Very private. I paid for the wood bundle but the wood provided was pretty damp so I gave up trying to light the fire. Be aware nothing is provided for the fire besides wood (if you pay for it). No lighter, matches or grate for cooking so be prepared. The campsite does not allow foraging for kindling so make sure to bring everything you need. On my way out in the morning although I drove cautiously, somehow one of my car tires was shredded by the end of the driveway. Not sure how much the host can control that but I want others to be aware because that definitely ruined my day and turned this into a much more expensive trip than I anticipated.

Couldn’t have asked for a better campsite! Plenty of open, flat, space surrounded by beautiful trees. Felt secluded and private for our friend group but also still easy to get in and out from the site. Very conveniently located by small towns for grabbing last minute items and less than 10 mins from downtown Kingston that has lots of cute shops and restaurants. Highly recommend this site!

The Rose Quartz site at Stony Rose Farm is perhaps our favorite dry camping spot ever. Kara and her family have worked hard to provide a quiet & private campsite in the back area of their farm. She was on the farm when we arrived and set the tone for our visit with a warm welcome.
We were surrounded by forest, meadow, and a view of the Catskills in the distance. The level site comes with a picnic table and fire ring. Although this is a working farm, we were never bothered, in fact, it added another layer of interest to the setting.
We appreciated Kara’s information packet that included ideas for things to do in the area.
We purchased Kara’s fresh farm eggs and a roaster chicken which came with a recipe, fresh herbs, and everything we needed to make beer can chicken.
The sounds of the chickens throughout the day, their crows and happy clucks were not intrusive. Mostly we just heard bird song.
This is an ideal spot for either down days for naps and reading a book or for using as a base camp to explore the Hudson River Valley. I loved it and give it five gold stars.

We had a beautiful private camping spot with lots of sun and stars at night....and an owl. Our hosts were gracious and friendly and welcoming. We would definitely camp there again.

Stony Rose Farms is an amazing place to stay. The site was so peaceful and one of the best nights sleep I’ve gotten in awhile! The trails are a nice way to wear out a dog with extra energy from traveling, and the fairy garden is adorable. Kara is so nice and I highly recommend the chicken experience to really get to know more about the farm and Kara and her family.

I will go out of my way to stay here again for sure!
