With 840 ft of pond frontage and 4.4 acres you can pitch a tent on the banks of the pond, up in the woods, or stay in one of the two cabins on site -- all are included in the cost of booking! Swimming and boating in the pond is obligatory. Year round fishing has long been a tradition. The spring fed pond is home to large and small mouth bass, northern pike, crappy, and blue gills. There are a number of ponds and state lands nearby. Accommodations include two outhouses and two docks so no waiting. There is a canoe and rowboat available and life jackets. The camp is car accessible three seasons and snowshoe accessible in the winter. There are summer cottages across the pond but not much happening on our side. Cedar Lodge, the nearest bar/restaurant, is about 5 minutes away and very popular all year round. The closest gas station and convenience store is about 20 minutes in the village of Parishville.

Private and unique
We really loved how much space and privacy this spot gives you, you basically have an entire side of the pind to yourself, 90% of the other camps are on the other side (noise travels from the camps including kids and construction but you get use to it). No frills and the cabin has everything you need to cook and be comfy during your stay. Very dog friendly with lots of activities from bocce ball to morning and evening paddling (weekend daytime paddling was a no-go due to jet ski traffic, less busy during the week). We cooked some of the best meals of our lives in the brick oven and enjoyed fires in the various fireplaces. The only store within reasonable distance is a gas station/convenience store, so make sure you grocery shop beforehand. Will definitely stay again!
Remote, rustic, and so peaceful!
This a beautiful remote camping site. We couldn't believe we got two cabins and docks for only $75 a night. The site is very rustic but has lots of amenities. It was perfect for my sister and I, and we will definitely stay again in the future!
Unwind, relax, and reset!
So we booked a get away in order to unplug, unwind, and reset as well as remove ourselves from the constant projects and go go go at home. When we arrived we were blown away by not only the beauty, but value for money!
The property is not only HUGE, but it is the most unique and beautiful place I’ve ever been.
The things they included in the stay and the details to help you find what you need are perfect!
We plan on coming back in a couple weeks and bringing my son(7) for his birthday!
We caught fish, cooked outside, rowed the boat out everyday, and enjoyed outdoor living to the maximum!
My only complaint would be the flies that were absolutely relentless. We did end up purchasing bug spray with DEET that ended up mostly doing the trick for us!
We can’t wait to come back!
Thank you sterling pond for showing us a little slice of heaven and for an affordable new spot to reset our minds and souls!
This place is amazing!! Everything you need for a comfortable stay, including fishing gear, firewood, life jackets, utensils and cookware. The views are breath taking, and kayaking on the pond was very enjoyable. My now fiancee ( who proposed to me here!) and I will be returning, and have family stay with us there. One of my new favorite places, and we live 4 hours away.
Nature lover and dog paradise
My husband and I had the most wonderful stay on Sterling Pond with our two dogs. I can't say enough about the camp location! We filled our time with row boating, swimming, walking in the woods, and relaxing by the fire. We would definitely book again! The fireplace heats the cabin nicely at night, but if it went out we woke up chilly. I would bring heavier blankets next time and a couple more pillows.
A+ mix of rustic camp & amenities
The perfect mix of rustic camping and amenities! We stayed in the well-stocked, comfortable "ice House" cabin complete with a queen "pull out" bed and stovetop and rocking chair, air mattresses optional, activities in cabinet. Large shed full of activities for the whole family, fishing gear, life jackets for the rowboat, canoe, and even a paddleboat, bocce ball and more! Easy instructions (as long you read them!) and well kept grounds. There's a even a grill! The "pond" is more of a small lake, clean cool water and lots of fish to catch with lures and rods provided. Beautiful scenery, no close neighbors but sounds from vacation homes carry across the lake. Thousands of stars in the dusty sky and a moon mirrored lake at night are the perfect backdrop for evening campfire in the 100 yr old freestanding chimney. We picked wild rasberries and harvested chives for our coal-baked potatoes. Spring water provided for drinking and doing dishes. Nicest outhouses (2) I've ever seen, stocked with TP, wipes and sanitizer. Hummingbird feeder provided great entertainment from the porch. We couldn't have asked for a better time. Hope to be back next summer!
Fun with bocce and canoe
The cabin was very nice and clean. There was a 3-burner gas stove, plus lots of pots & pans, dishes, and utensils. No need to bring any of that! No sink, but a barrel of fresh water with a spigot. The pond is lovely and clear. Just for information (not criticism): The bed has a very thin, firm mattress. If you come in the summer, don't expect a quiet place. There are a lot of jet skis at those camps across the pond.
