Come visit us at Steelhead Run offering panoramic views of the sunsets on Lake Erie. When you arrive you will find yourself nestled between Lake Erie and Chautauqua Creek on 7 forested acres. Both features can be accessed in less than a 200 foot walk from the cottage. On the beach you can spend time hunting for beach glass and driftwood, or take the half-mile walk along the beach to Barcelona Harbor area to enjoy a bit to eat, a cocktail, or even purchase a smoked fish at the fish market. Barcelona Harbor also offers a marina and a public launching facility to access Lake Erie. Do you want to go fishing? Take a charter out of the harbor, or try and hit the world renowned Steelhead fishery found in Chautauqua Creek. Don’t worry if Lake Erie is a little too rough on that day for boating. Make a trip to any one of the four inland lakes a short drive from the site. Chautauqua Lake is the largest and closest (5mi.) inland lake to the cottage. Chautauqua Lake offers many attractions available by boat that includes, The Chautauqua Institution, Midway Amusement Park, Long Point State Park, shopping, and numerous restaurant/bar establishments. There is truly something for everyone here.
Consider a wine tour if you’re looking to venture away from the lake for a bit. Lake Erie Wine Country, located in the largest grape-growing region east of the Rockies, extends roughly 45 miles from Silver Creek, New York to North East, Pennsylvania. At the end of 2011, it has become home to over 24 commercial and estate wineries. Other attractions within arms reach include Niagara Falls, restaurants, ski resorts, snowmobile trails, nature trails, golf courses, inland lakes, shopping, and a casino, most in less than a 30 mile radius. Additionally, one can find cultural stimulation at Chautauqua Institution. Here you can enjoy their symphony, concerts, speaking venues and theater performances.

Lovely site on lake erie
The pros: This site is very level. Located nestled among tall maples that shade the space perfectly, it is bordered by a river and trail to the rear of the site (with trail access) and glimpses of Lake Erie through trees. Access to the lake is a quick walk across the road and down a wide path to the rocky beach.
There was plenty of downed and cut wood available for the fire pit.
Nearby hamlets offer dining opportunities, shopping, and groceries. Fresh summer vegetables were available at roadside stands in the area as well.
The only con: The hook ups are on the wrong side for a back in space. Meaning if you back in as intended the hook ups are on your curbside and the picnic table and fire ring are on your street side. We were able to work around this problem by pulling into the space and then after unhooking backing our TV around our trailer. As long as you have a smaller camper that would be fine. (ours is a 22’ and I can’t imagine doing that with a 27’ or longer. The adjacent site (west) is properly set up.
If I were smart… I’d tell you how incredibly bad this place was. 😂. But I just can’t WE LOVED IT!
Sites are roomy and comfortable, easy in and easy out, hookups are perfectly located and the lake is a short little walk through a very nice and wide well maintained path on one side and on other side a little trail over to the creek path that goes into the lake. If you like fishing that creek looked like the place to be.
Thanks so much Barb and so sorry it took me so long to post life just gets way busy sometimes I think I’m already ready to return 😊
