Places to see near Randall W.’s Land
If you stayed here and have some insider info for us, let us know!
The owner Randall was one of the nicest, most generous guys you will meet and was very accomodating. I am 8 months pregnant and we camped with my 3-year-old and were both very comfortable. There are a few sites to choose from and each is a short distance from one another. The ideal access is with a car but you will need something like a 4x4 to get to most of them. We camped at "site 10" and it was perfect - the river was right near us, there was great tree coverage and it was nice and quiet.
Absolutely amazing experience
It was such an amazing camping experience in Ugly Apple Farm! The host, Randall, who is a science teacher & carpenter, was super nice and cool. He showed us how to get to the campsite upon arrival, and he even walked with my family to show us the way to tubing in the calm river. The campsite is pretty new to Hipcamp, so there's no site numbers displayed at each campsite yet.
I have 12-year-old and 5-year-old kids, and they loved water activities like chilling on the beach and lazy river tubing. We rented tubes from Randall with additional cost, and we had so much fun with it. In terms of privacy, each camping site has some distance from each other, so privacy was pretty good. We absolutely enjoyed and loved the camping, and highly recommend this site.
If you have small kids, and plan to have activities by the water, I suggest that you pack PFD if your kids are not good swimmers.
Since it's by the river surrounded by woods, there are mosquitos and bugs at night. Please prepare your spray and mosquito repellent coils.
120% satisfied. Thank you Randall.
Scenic farm and friendly hosts
My friend and I stayed here for a weekend for a nearby wedding, and it was so refreshing! Randall and Melissa are super friendly, helpful, and informative hosts. We got to sit by the fire, eat some eggs, go tubing, and relax in our own private field creekside. Rustic but quick drive into town, and Randall offered hospitality for any unexpected needs. We also got to see some of the farm bees, goats, and birds in action. Beautiful farm and great place to pitch your tent! Hope to return sometime. :)
Best of hipcamp!
We loved our stay so much!!!
The site was so private, just by the side of a beautiful river. We swam and skipped stones and sunbathed on the little pebble beach. The next day we did the bee-keeping experience. Randall even had a suit for our 4-year old! He was so kind and patient and explained everything and flexible with timing. We felt so at home here. We also loved his very friendly goats and dog. The entire family was so welcoming and kind. I also really liked how much the hosts care about the environment and being good stewards of the land. Absolutely would recommend this place!!
Off the grid getaway
Such a friendly hospitable family with a gorgeous property. Multiple lots, easy to get to, and working with a very flexible family made it all a flawless experience. It rained this weekend on us, but we are able to navigate our campsite easily due to experience, but we fully intend on returning with better weather!
Randy is a lovely human being, and he is so generous with his amazing property! My husband and I were looking for somewhere secluded to camp for a weekend, and Randy’s property and hospitality was the perfect fit. We stayed right by a river with a short walk to great views and a beach area. We felt comfortable and like we had plenty of space on our own. He had fresh eggs, tap water, and firewood available for us, and he also gave us a small compost ale toilet that got the job done! We had such a nice time, and we really look forward to coming back some time very soon.
