Lovely weekend stay
Mustang Valley Ranch was a much-needed and beautiful get away from the city. Mary is a fantastic host, and she is super accommodating and helpful. We absolutely loved the ability to interact with the animals on the property (goats, chickens, horses). Our site had a private entrance to the Schoharie Creek, where we enjoyed fishing, swimming, and eating our meals near the water. The only thing that we didn't anticipate about the site (we had site 3) was how close it was to other peoples' campsites. There were two sites super close to us, which is not what we expected. Luckily, everyone was respectful; however, we didn't feel that the map on Hipcamp we reviewed when booking was accurate to show how close you are to other camps. We specifically chose it for the ability to get out of the city and have some privacy, which wasn't really the case afterall. We made the best of it and would recommend the site, but think that the layout of the camp sites needs to be a bit more clear before booking.
Mustang Ranch is a beautiful property with pond and river access. Mary is wonderful. She is extremely accommodating and offers access to her entire farm. The animals on the farm have such personalities. The goats addded a bit of comedy to our trip. The camping is rustic and sites are not cleared yet. We checked out the property and chose our own spot to camp which was fun. There are plans to have cleared, organized sites soon. I think this will make the experience better as it took a little work to find a suitable site. I recommend staying at Mustang Ranch. We had a great time there.
Best camping ever, even with covid-related adjustments. Sites a private and clean. Interacting with animals was a unique experience. Mary was awesome from booking to check out. She takes great care of the farm, animals, and campers. Definitely coming back and bringing friends.
Some of the best of the catskills
We had the best weekend on this beautiful farm! Mary was super nice and available to help with any questions, local recommendations or just a good chat. This is some of the prettiest land in the Catskills. We camped at site 1 by the creek and it had its own private entrance to the slow moving creek. There were two other groups camping along the creek but they are far enough away that you feel secluded. We didn't leave the property for our two day stay and enjoyed swimming in the creek, interacting with the horses and playing with the goats by the barn. There is lots to explore on the property, and the star gazing at night was great! Mary wore a mask and provided hand sanitizer, making the stay in covid times easy and enjoyable. I will definitely be returning!
Mary was a great host. I stayed in the woods sites. There are 3 and they are all platforms that are about 10X10, which was a little small for my tent. You have to haul all of your stuff up a pretty steep scramble to get to the platforms. The creekside sites looked really nice and flat, even a little sandy, but minimal shade and directly on the ground. She had wonderful fire pits and access to the stream was very reasonable. Mary does not allow you to drive your car to your site, but did bring my stuff in the cart and helped schlep it up the scramble (thank you!). The property is very quiet even with other campers near by and very peaceful. The horses are magnificent and the whole area is stunning. I took some wonderful star and flower photos.
