Lisa is a wonderful host with a great location, including new picnic table and clean portapotty. Definitely sign up for her goat-sheep-alpaca farm tour and visit her shop. Also be sure to ask her about small things: clarify access to water, she kindly provided a screened fire pit for our small campfire, even though the HipCamp auto-email said “no fires” because she understandably doesn’t want large bonfires.
Had a wonderful stay at Laughing Goat! The campsite was serene and beautiful and had everything we needed. Definitely book a farm tour to meet Lisa and the goats. I really appreciated Lisa’s kindness and commitment to sustainability. Would definitely stay here again in the future.
Great host- a few things to know!
First of all Lisa was very sweet, I did get to meet her. A few things though to mention, that may be relevant, the campsite 1 and 2 are in full sun (summertime) till a bit after one, so if you are car camping just know it will get hot. I did arrive mid-week so that might be why some of the following:
-When I arrived the goats were penned very close to the platform area, a herd of goats do have a strong smell. Later that evening she did move them further away-- which made it fine.
If you are a light sleeper- you may hear them bang into the metal sheds during the night.
Also the Porta-john was pretty smelly.
Again it might be my timing and simply the heat and humidity. Overall it's a great low cost option- keeping the above in mind.
Such an amazingly rejuvenating experience! Facilities were clean and waking up next to goats was an absolute dream. Lisa is so welcoming and kind and her tour was extremely informative! I will absolutely come back here soon!
Boondocking with the goats
Lisa gave us a warm welcome and helped us to pick the best spot. There’s a portapotty, and 5 gallons of drinking water was provided. The site we chose was very private and right by the goats :) ; it had an elevated platform, a picnic table, and a fire pit.
It was a quiet and restful spot, and definitely a positive experience!
Awesome place to be out in the wild
Laughing Goat Fiber Farm was a dream. Lovely surroundings and the laughing goats were so much fun for our crew. All the amenities with fire ring, picnic table and water along with a portajohn on site if needed. Really central location to Ithaca and all the Finger Lakes has to offer. Really cute shop as well with socks mittens hats and yarn for sale. Would definitely stay here again.
Relaxing farm just outside the city
The camping site is located just a short distance from the road but you have a line of trees blocking the road and providing total privacy (although the other campsite is within a few yards).
The campsite itself was nice, having the platform and toliet was great and we loved seeing the goats! There is not much hiking to do on site but luckily a short 10 minute drive will take you to numerous waterfalls and hiking trails so definitely prepare to visit a few spots. You also are only 10 minutes into the city of Ithaca if you want to check out a restaurant or need to grab something!
The campsite is labeled as meet & greet but we didn't see our host the entire stay unfortunately and also did not get to meet the alpacas. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come again!
