It was great staying at Camp Haven. Smooth check in process and campsite setup had a fire pit, picnic table, and wood chip tent spot. Exactly as described! Not to mention it was so quiet and peaceful on the property and we were visited by the cutest and friendliest black and white cat. Would love to come back in summertime!

It is a beautiful place! The sites are within view of each other in fields, with some tree cover available. We had wonderful fires and nice, flat spots for the tent. It was helpful to be able to buy water and wood there as well. Thanks for a nice stay!

Camp Haven is a beautiful piece of property with sites on two meadows nestled among forested hills. There is one small cabin and a tentrr tent available as well, the latter of which we ended up staying in due to impending rain. It was so cozy and we slept so well to the sound of the rain and the wind! The sites are all well taken care of and our host, Lester, was very communicative and friendly. It was very interesting getting a tour of the property and learning about how the group of people living there are crafting a life intentionally oriented to living with a light footprint on the planet. The towns of Livingston Manor and Liberty are conveniently nearby (by rural standards) and we were able to find some hiking trails relatively close by as well.

It was so completely relaxing. The most relaxed ive been all summer long. my friends and I had a wonderful time and at night, if you look up at the sky on a clear night you can see the milky way. super peaceful and amazing. we arrived on a thursday and it was super calm, relaxing and we were the only ones there. weekend was a little busier but the camp sites were so spread apart to the point where it didnt matter. we had our own area and were decently far away from everyone else. The host Sam was super super nice and helpful as well as the rest of the volunteers. My friends and I want to make this a yearly trip to this spot!! Highly recommend this site to anyone looking t relax, unplug and have an amazing time.

My wife and I are normally really big into backcountry backpacking. Because she’s currently six months pregnant, we had to pause our usual trips, and we really missed the outdoors and connecting with nature. As I was browsing potential camping spots in the Catskills I stumbled across Hipcamp and Camp Haven.

We are both into sustainability, and reading their mission and values had us sold. The directions were super easy to follow and were well maintained. I have a low profile sports car, so if I was able to make it, just about about any car will be fine.

Les was a fantastic host. We arrived a little later than planned but he showed us around the different spots and let us pick where we wanted to set up camp. There is ample parking by the sites and they are well spaced out. We had another couple in the campsite next to us, which even still, was at least 200 feet away if not more. We could see their car but could only barely see their tent itself, so there was definitely a sense of privacy. They also had more secluded options. To get to the two furthest ones you would need to park at a lot and walk a bit to get to but they looked nice.

Each site had a bed with wood chips you could place your tent on. They also had a fire ring, a picnic table, and a water bucket that was full to put out fires with. We bought two bundles of wood, which were a good size (large banana crate full). Because we got in late and it rained the next day we didn’t get to explore as much as we otherwise would have. We did take a short trail (1/2 mile both ways) to walk to a small creek which was nice.

Overall we had a great time and plan on coming back. The one thing to note, if you come here please keep in mind you are there to experience nature. As such, you need to pack away all food/trash and scented objects (think deodorant) into the car prior to going to bed. The Catskills has the highest density of black bears in NY. They are attracted to food and will visit if you keep it outside in a easy to get to spot (as our neighbors found out). The good news is that black bears are also very timid, so making loud noises such as ‘hey bear’ will scare them off. Luckily, you can easily avoid unwanted guest by simply putting things away. Not only will this keep you safe and happy, but is good for the bears so they don’t become reliant on humans for food.

In summary, if you are looking to get away and not be surrounding by people, you’ve come to the right spot. We fully plan on returning sometime.

My family and I had a lovely time camping at Camp Haven! The campsite and grounds were beautiful and all of the staff were very welcoming and accommodating. We enjoyed taking a tour and learning about all of the things going on at Earth Haven.
