Private driveway in the woods leads up a hill to three fabulous, secluded, country-setting camping locations with incredible views. Hay fields in front of you with woods behind you, you'll have peace and quiet in total seclusion but are only 5 minutes from downtown historic Greenwich village with diners and shops and a CVS. (The “Stewarts” gas station and market has firewood bundles! ) Camping locations have no ammenities but are cleared with mowed grass and have firepits. Pitch tent or bring RV, you'll enjoy yourself and the wildlife around you. Site 1 and 2 are adjacent to woods, site 3 is a wide-open-field site (great RV site) with the best panoramic and sunset view. There is camp wood for fires in various spots on the property (40 acres) that campers are welcome to but you might want to bring some of your own as well. Also, the coded entrance gate will be open for your reservation date so no additional call is required. UPDATE...driveway regraded for easy access for all vehicles now. Can still be a little soft after a rain. Call or text me anytime if you need anything. UPDATE: site #2 now has small cute, cozy cabin (12x30) on the edge of woods with VIEW!!! with 2 twin beds, eating table and chairs and a covered porch with chairs (with nice new mattresses-bring your own pillows, sheets and blankets or sleeping bags-$99/nite) available starting June 1st. Site was absolutely gorgeous and wonderful. Host was communicative and helpful. Site was far more private than we had anticipated. Definitely not a "backyard experience". Site is located in a very large meadow overlooking some rolling hills and farms. Was a wonderful experience.
Beautiful + private
This spot was truly gorgeous (the view!) and private without being remote or difficult to find. Dry firewood was left for us, and we sat by a lovely campfire in the chairs provided. We loved our evening there. The driveway is a little rough and on an incline, so would recommend a 4WD vehicle. But the site is close enough to the paved road that I was able to leave my van parked in the drive and just ferry our gear from there.
We had a great time at archdale meadows, so
much so that we ended up booking a second night! The views are stunning. It was secluded enough to really get them at camping feel. Our host Thomas was available if we had any questions or needed more firewood, water, etc. would definitely return!
Beautiful scenic escape
Archdale Meadows was beautiful! I was not sure what to expect when we booked and this site, but it was everything you could ever want from a camping site. The road up to the site is through the woods so definitely head Thomas' advice about using a 4x4 car. The sits are far apart but you can still see/hear your neighbors. Majority of the site is in the beautiful field but the back leads into the woods. Just be sure to bring lots of sunscreen because the field fills up with sun and there's not much coverage without going into the woods. There are adorable cows and horses down the hill at what I assume is his farm. You hear them mooing at the site! At night, the stars are so clear, and Thomas generously provides all the sites with firewood from his land which is a huge plus to me! Town is a short drive away and my group spent a day at a local swimming hole which was very fun. I will definitely be back to Archdale Meadows soon!
This was our first Hipcamp experience. We would love to go again. The views were spectacular. I called the owner Thomas, before we arrived, to ask a question. I was happy that he answered and he was helpful and kind. We loved seeing hawks, deer, cows, & horses over rolling hills.
