A beautiful and quiet location by a gently flowing river situated 20km off the New England Highway north of Scone.

" Kids 12 and under are $2 "

CHECK-IN after 6AM  CHECK-OUT by 6PM. Bookings are for 2 nights only & no more than 2 caravans, campervans or tents permitted per booking.

"Glenston By The River" campsite is perfect for that retreat from the hustle, bustle and congestion of modern life.  Perfect for romantic getaways or group get-togethers.   Explore the river and surroundings or just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. In the late afternoon, be on the lookout for kangaroos and wallaroos.

Upstream adjacent to the campsite is 115 acres of crown land (travelling stock reserve) with a further 700 metres of river.

If you are looking for a nice meal and a relaxing beverage within 30 mins drive, head to the Linga Longa Hotel on the Pages River at Gundy (Wed-Sun), The Durham Hotel at Wingen (Wed-Sun)  or the White Hart Hotel in Murrurundi (7 days). For something really special, visit Graze Restaurant a little further north at the Willow Tree Inn (meals available 7 days at  either restaurant or bar).  Please check times on websites.

55 minutes from the campsite is the quaint and thriving little village of Nundle. This pretty town is surrounded by undulating hills and tree lined streets. Many visitors come to Nundle to fossick or pan for gold and sapphires in the Peel River. You can hire panning equipment at the Mt Misery Mine or the Nundle Country Cafe. For a great day trip (3-4 hrs) take a round trip via Belltrees, Moonan Flat (stop for lunch), Barrington Tops dingo gate, Ellerston (Packer Family property) and Timor passing horse studs, polo fields, picturesque landscapes and even cattle on the road.

For something a little more adventurous, within 20-30 mins drive, you can visit Timor Caves off Sargeants Gap Road, Timor which are within walking distance of the road and are easily accessible with good shoes, a strong light and common sense. Also whilst in the Timor area make sure you view the limestone hillsides with their abundance of Native Grassy Trees. Burning Mountain Reserve at Wingen has a 4.6km walking loop to view a smouldering underground coal seam that has been burning for 5,500 years and Paradise Park at Murrurundi has a unique 1.5km walk through The Eye of the Needle.

Mobile phone coverage is very poor at the campsite however if you drive just 5 minutes up the road to Waverley Rd you will find coverage.

Place was really nice and peaceful. Paul came down to welcome us and gave us recommendations around the area to see, but the spot was so nice that we ended up just staying and relaxing by the river. Plenty of fire wood to keep you warm. Will definitely be back again.

Great quaint spot close to the Timor caves and great pubs. Narelle and Paul were also extremely kind and accomodating, even going out of the way to source maps and directions to the caves for us. We enjoyed sitting and listening to the water flowing by, watching the hawks and eagles fly above and even spotting a couple foxes one early morning. Definitely, a spot to return to in the summer and go for a swim.

We had such an amazing time camping at Glenston by the River.
So peaceful & the sound of running creek, stars and rock escarpment was magical. The kids managed to play in the creek in their paddle boards.
Definitely recommend camping here!

Beautiful spot by the river. Lovely and cool in the water on hot days! The site was lovely and private and well maintained. Paul and Narelle were very responsive to messages and gave great detailed information about the property. Close to Barrington Tops for exploring, and plenty to see around other towns nearby.

Wow! What a beautiful spot! Private, with plenty of space, quiet and amazing wildlife. Just stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Directions excellent. Thank you to Paul and Narelle for being so accommodating and flexible - much appreciated. Hoping we can return some time soon - to stay longer next time.

This site is everything you could hope for, just peace and quiet, a cool river running by you and no one to be seen. This was a perfect site for us to get away and just relax.
If you’re looking for a single site campsite this is the place for you.
The river has easy access at one point and limited for the rest take some reef/river shoes with you if you aren’t comfortable walking in a little dirt/mud river bottom and on some small stones. There are a few larger stones where you can just lie in the water and enjoy the cool. We will definitely be back here, and we may even bring some friends if we can bear to share such a wonderful and private site.
As this site becomes visited more often it may become difficult to find firewood easily, so if you don’t want to go hunting for it I’d suggest bring your own or there is plenty along the side of dirt the road on the way to the property.
I hope that anyone who visits this site respects it to keep it in the pristine condition that currently is.
Thanks to Paul and Narelle for opening up such a wonderful place to stay.
