Boundary Riverside Central  is a picturesque private grassy area immediately adjacent to the Timbarra/Rocky River with shade trees and views to the surrounding mountains and is suitable for caravans, RVs, camping trailers, tents and swags.

Adults are $17pp, children 5-16 years old are $9pp, children under 5 stay free.

The campsite is easily accessed off the public road but is private and not immediately next to the road,  There is a slope to go down to the lower large flat adjacent to the river but large caravans are regularly taken down there.  If uncertain about this there is also a large flat area above.  There are pit toilets available.  Pets are allowed but dogs must be leashed unless accompanied, and must be leashed if livestock or other campers are nearby. Fishing is also allowed providing licensed, but note that Eastern Cod are catch and release only, and any fish heads and innards are to be buried away from the campsite.  Firewood is available free of charge.  An initial supply will be provided and guests are welcome to gather their own.

The Rocky is a special place and we expect our guests to treat it respectfully, removing their rubbish and not emptying any waste water from caravans and RVs on site or in the river.  There is a dump point in Tenterfield.

There is a landline at the Boundary Hut and at Corner Camp for emergencies, and wifi will soon be available at the Boundary Hut if someone really really has to connect with the internet for urgent matters.  If the entire Boundary Riverside area is wanted for a large group an exclusive booking may be made.

The Boundary property is 10000 acres and has extensive private river frontage, providing a lovely scenic drive through the valley.  The camping areas at Boundary Riverside, the China Wall, The Cockatoo and The Caves are all on the river but are on the western side with easy access to the public road so even if the river rises campers will not be stranded.

Boundary adjoins Washpool National Park and is close to the Billirimba Fire Trail, Lookout and Falls.

We have been camping on Bill, Bronwyn and Tim's land for over 10 years. It has become a tradition for my son and I each year to head down the Rocky River. We are always welcomed whole heartedly, extended family and all. There certainly is no place on earth that compares and we appreciate every adventure we have there, always waiting for the next chance to visit again. Jules and Tom.

Awesome spot by the river. Fire pits on site with lots of good quality wood provided. Perfect spot for ADV motorcyclists ...the road in (Rocky River Rd) is a brilliant ride in. Toilets in excellent condition. One of my best HipCamps to date. Highly recommended!

This little gem was a pleasant surprise. Whilst the description says it is roadside, it is in fact a green, mowed campsite well off the road, partially shaded and alongside the river. It's very tranquil and if there was any traffic on the road, I never saw nor heard it.

I was greeted by a pair of horses enjoying the green lawn.

There is easy access to the river, which was quite fast flowing. I'm not sure I would have gone swimming, but the water was quite high due to recent rains.
There are two very clean drop loos a short walk back up the embankment, closer to the road. They have been very well done.
I'd imagine camper trailers would be OK on the upper embankment (limited shade), and there is a steep drop to the lower level adjacent the river. You may have a bit of a scrabble back up the bank to get your camper trailer back out of the lower level.

I had the pleasure of meeting the owners who provided excellent maps on how to get to the property. It is about 40k south east of Tenterfield. Telstra mobile phone reception ceased about 10k out of town.

The total site is quite large. I'd imagine 3-4 camper trailers would easily fit on the upper level, and a similar number on the lower level, provided you were confident to get them back up the bank.

Response from Bill, Bronwyn & Tim, the Host, on April 25th, 2021

Hi Rod, nice to meet you. So glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you back. We welcome return visitors who appreciate this special area. Quite large caravans go on that site with no problem with the slope to the lower large riverside bank. The Mitsubishi Club were there for Easter with 43 people. Some of them had helped us on another property after the bushfires which was greatly appreciated. Happy travels!
