Woodlands has forest birds, wallabies, echidnas & wombats. In spring 2020, we had nesting red and yellow black-tailed cockatoos, galahs, sulphur-crested cockatoos, gang gangs, crimson rosellas, superb lyrebirds, kookaburras, boobook owls, barn owls and many others.
If you are interested in helping with our wildlife surveys we'd love your assistance. Having good records of our native fauna and flora will help us in Landcare and Local Land Service grants to preserve the many species and and ~5 ecosystems we are custodians for. Accessible by 2WD vehicles with a good clearance.
The Sanctuary is ~500 acres consisting of 5 different types of ecosystem, 3 forest, 1 grassy box woodlands & 1 river tussock grasslands, each with both unique & overlapping species.
Our boundaries are: northern 2.1 kms long, eastern 1 kms, western 800m, & southern follows the creekline so is ~5.6 kms long.
Elevation ranges from ~590m - ~780m, so its cool to cold overnight.
Your visit to The Sanctuary helps us fund the costs of owning the property, paying the rates, & environmental custodianship, carrying out environmental management, weed control, fencing, & healing the land using Permaculture & regenerative agriculture strategies, tree planting, stopping soil & gully erosion, etc
For low income families we discount the camping fee and negotiate barter in some sort of farm work :-)
Camping at The Sanctuary is even more exclusive than it used to be, as due to antiquated NSW & local planning laws we are now limited to no more than 2 occupied tents or 2 occupied caravans on the property at any one time, and for no more than 60 days a year. The upside, is that your exclusive access and privacy is even more guaranteed ! :-)
So Book Early, particularly if you need 2 tents or caravans, get in early, as we will have to block out the other sites for that weekend.
- Check in: After 10AM

- Cancellation policy: Super Strict (30 Days)
- On arrival: Meet and greet
- Minimum nights: 1 night
- Accepts bookings: 12 months out

We visited after some heavy rain and the track was quite boggy. It’s also off a poorly maintained fire trail. No problem for a 4wd in 2wd but not suited for low clearance vehicle. Once inside the camp ground the track is fine.
