Please Note  1) No Jabs = No Camp!   2) with the La Niña big wet continuing, it's 4WD access only unless you have a ute or light truck with good clearance & can drive well through some muddy sections & rough stony patches (I get in & out with a 2WD 4.5t light truck with suitably luggy rear tyres).

A gently sloping campsite, with an easterly aspect, surrounded on 3 sides with woodlands, looking down the Georges Valley.  A huge range of native fauna & flora live or visit the upper valley, especially birdlife.

On dusk, the last 2 species of birds celebrating the day, are the nightly territorial fly-around and laughing calls of the local Kookaburra family, & many nights you may here the repertoire of mimicing calls of the resident Superb Lyrebirds echoing thru the hills.

If you wake up early & quietly, wallabies, wombats & kangaroos can be seen grazing the native grasslands.

Let me know if you want to learn about the different ecosystems & sustainable catchment management, owning a bush block, broadacre Permaculture design, or want to help with land management incl weeds & erosion control, farm fencing, revitalising the old orchard, sorting out the pots from Mum's old plant nursery, or treeplanting. Normally accessible by 2WD vehicles with a good clearance.

The Sanctuary is ~500 acres consisting of 5 different types of ecosystem, 3 forest, 1 grassy box woodlands & 1 river tussock grasslands, each with both unique & overlapping species.

Our boundaries are:  northern 2.1 kms long, eastern 1 kms, western 800m, & southern follows the creekline so is ~5.6 kms long.

Elevation ranges from ~590m - ~780m, so its cool to cold overnight.

Your visit to The Sanctuary helps us fund the costs of owning the property, paying the rates, & environmental custodianship, including carrying out environmental management, including weed control, fencing, & healing the land via regenerative agriculture, tree planting, stopping soil & gully erosion, etc

For low income families we discount the camping fee and negotiate barter in some sort of farm work :-)

Camping at The Sanctuary is even more exclusive than it used to be, as due to antiquated NSW & local planning laws we are now limited to no more than 2 occupied tents or 2 occupied caravans on the property at any one time, and for no more than 60 days a year. The upside, is that your exclusive access and privacy is even more guaranteed !  :-)

So Book Early, particularly if you need 2 tents or caravans, get in early, as we will have to block out the other sites for that weekend.

Make sure you follow Danielle's instructions on how to get there. Google Maps is clueless!

We enjoyed the Sanctuary over Easter 2021 and avoided the crowds of standard van parks.. We had a camp of 2 families and had the 500 acre property to ourselves. Arthur’s Glen was grassy and mowed with property a mix of grassed area and scrub which was home to deer that we were lucky to view. The track in was rough and boggy after some heavy rain so more suited to 4wd or high clearance. Conveniently located We used this as a base for day trips to both Bungonia and Morton national parks for some scenic hikes. Also lucky to witness a spectacular meteorite in the night sky! A fantastic visit and recommended for those who are self sufficient and prefer the solitude.

Lovely, peaceful place with views down your own valley. Narrow and bumpy track in, but fine for 4wd. Bush walks around the property but with only one night we didn’t get to do them all. Danielle very welcoming as the host. We will be back when we need a quiet break.

Danielle was a great host. From arrival to end we had no issues. It will be on our list to return to the Sanctuary for a relaxing off the grid break.
