Nestled on the river in a sandstone mountain valley, The Freedom Farm offers deep rest and rejuvenation.

This land is healing for the mind, body and spirit - it is part of the local songline and full of exquisite natural beauty and powerful wisdom.

There are three camping areas: Belongaia - a cool, shady casuarina fringed meadow, Marabalang - the mangrove edged stretch along the river with direct water access, and Gumtree Grove - riverfront area amidst the shimmering gums. All spaces are private and out of site of the main house.

The river is great for swimming, fishing and canoeing and there are stunning bushwalks in the Dharug National Park just a stones throw away.

The iconic town of Spencer is 10 minutes down the road and Wisemans Ferry is a lovely half hour drive away. The area is steeped in both Indigenous and settler history.

Each camping area has flat ground, shade and a campfire circle. Compost toilets on site.

You can also add to your stay such experiences as guided bushtucker/bush medicine walks, permaculture tours of the gardens, woodworking/whittling workshops, yoga/meditation classes, art therapy sessions and even learn how to eco dye.

Or simply lie under a tree and listen to the birds…come and breathe in the tranquility of The Freedom Farm.Groups welcome.

My group of friends and i had a great stay. A swarm of flies decided to spend the stay with us but nothing a constant smoking fire couldnt fix. A few loud bikes going down the road across the river. But in all i recommend this spot and definitely be back.

Yes, the flies and bikes remind us that everything is perfectly imperfect!!! Glad you enjoyed your stay 😊

The river was great, lovely and warm but the flies were crazy and it was very muddy. We ended up leaving a day early because of the flies and rain. We also didn’t have a toilet close to our camp site!

Such a lovely place; very convenient to Sydney. Joanna was very friendly and sharing with her knowledge and land.

I would love it if there were more convenient trailheads for hiking, but it was certainly easy to relax, stargaze, and have a tiny fire for marshmallows.

First time campers might be put off by the rustic loo, but it’s really much better than some alternatives!

Overall, we had a pleasant stay and the host was lovely! Unfortunately, the mozzies ate us alive (even with a lot of insect repellent) and we had to cut our stay short. Toilets were also a little too far away to visit once the sun set.
