This was our first trip using Hipcamp travelling from South Australia to Fraser Island whilst on our return we booked in to stay at Swamp Oak Creek 33km out from Tamworth NSW
This property was easy to locate.
On entering the property we started to notice that this piece of paradise has been professionally set up with 100% campers in mind.
We were first greeted by a paddock of Alpacas then Swamp Oak Creek’s own two friendly Donkeys
With multiple locations to set up camp, we were guided to a remote location on the other side of the property hosting large fire pit supplied firewood clean toilet and a amazing deck overlooking the running creek.
Chatting with Grant the next morning we had a guided tour around an echo friendly purpose built dam.. Offering Fish, Turtles, Yabbies and multiple water birds.
100% Best spot on our month long trip
The campsite was fantastic - excellent facilities as well.
If you want a secluded camp and a couple of days to relax. 100 per cent book this place
Excellent spot overlooking a beautiful stream. Viewing deck was so useful and made breakfast and afternoons a joy of sitting around and listening to the stream. You will need at least an AWD to get there, but so worth it.
The view from the top of the nearby hills is worth it alone, especially at night. if you are staying for a while ask Grant to make you some of his sourdough bread. It didnt last long with us.
Thoroughly enjoyed this camp and would highly recommend if you want to get away from it all.
Hope to get back there again.

Beautiful isolated camp site - lovely shade under the trees and in the shelter was great too. Drop toilet was good and saved on bringing our own. Need an AWD vehicle to get there.

We had a fantastic stay at Grant’s camp. Would highly recommend.
Key standouts were:
- Pergola with a stunning view of the creek below
- Exploring the hills and creek (with plenty of fish and animals around)
- Privacy, a good 2-3kms away from anyone else.
- Ventilated pit toilet just off to the side of the camp ground.
- Very friendly, accomodating hosts.
Grant has built a really nice platform/shelter so you have a place to eat a meal, admire the view and be out of the elements.
The composting toilet is excellent.
The river is beautiful and is an easy walk down the bank.
The campsite is off the grid, no cell coverage and is completely private. We loved our week there.
This is a cracking camping spot! The shelter overlooking the creek was a perfect addition to a campsite and made bush camping so much easier by having a flat and covered area. The composting toilet was great, absolutely no smell and very clean. We enjoyed swimming in the creek and sitting by the fire pit. There is an open area which was easy to set up camp and heaps of trees for shade. Grant was very welcoming when he met us when we arrived. Would love to come back to this spot.
