Swimming, waterfalls, hiking, gold & Gem fossicking and wildlife watching - the ultimate camping experience!

Kookabookra Falls is located within the property of Dunooki in and around the historical gold mining region of Kookabookra on the New England Tablelands just 50km Northeast of Guyra. The property consists of 2500 acres of mostly natural bushland complete with stunning views of mountain ranges and deep gorges that seem to go forever.

Kookabookra falls itself cascades down a drop of 80-90 meters on the Nowlands River offering adventurers a rare and up close opportunity into what many consider to be a mini National Park.

Why not try your hand at Gold panning or Gem fossicking? Or perhaps you just want to chill and soak up what Nature has to offer. Or even better, enjoy your favourite beverage whilst cooling off in one of our many waterholes.

Although there are multiple Camping grounds on and near the falls, you will feel like its all yours. You will spend days getting lost as you explore your patch of paradise while here.

Property was beautiful and we just got our trip in before the weather turned. Our dog loved running around. Took a drive to nuggety and a walk to the falls and both were great. Highly recommend! Michael was very friendly and accommodating.

Kookabookra Falls is a remote oasis. The creek is amazing to swim in and even spot a platypus of your lucky. The trip down to Nuggety is well worth it not just for the fossickers (plenty to find).
Michael has done a sensational job. Remote bush camping with water and toilet available. Doesn’t get much better

A real privilege to share Michael’s piece of paradise. We camped in splendid isolation over Christmas at site 9 - on top of the hill overlooking trees and yet more glorious trees. Wonderful walks, wildlife and bird watching opportunities. 4WD definitely recommended on such steep country and need to be self-sufficient away from the sites near the magnificent waterfall.

Wow, where to begin…Michael’s property is a hidden gem. We camped at site 1 & 2 right near the falls and it was magical. There is lots to explore, Michael is a genuine host and we had everything we needed for a relaxing two nights. 4x4 was necessary to explore the property and we got to fossick, swim and spot platypus. We can’t wait to go back!

We were lucky enough to be the first campers to experience this absolute gem of a spot. Michael and his family have gone to huge effort to make this a truely unique camping experience. The property is stunning with deep ravines, waterfalls and quiet waterholes. We spotted platypus at dawn and dusk every day, the endangered rock wallaby, turtles and water dragons as well as plenty of birds and other wildlife. This is a remote wildlife haven for those looking for a unique wilderness experience. 4wd experience a must as it is very steep country.
