Dungarubba Fields is a private, rural setting on six acres. The front paddock is opposite a sugarcane field. Both paddocks are adjacent to an ancient, remnant rainforest which was once part of the Big Scrub, and a natural wetland connected to the Richmond River. Dungarubba means 'Blue Crane', the bird.

Our camp-sites offer shade, space, wildlife & birdlife. Campfires are seasonal due to fire safety and bushfire prevention. Campers can access rainwater (drinking water) from our own tanks with an accessible hose and have access to a downstairs flushing toilet. During the school holidays over Christmas/January we also have a Portaloo available, which is cleaned at least twice per day.

This grassy, mowed site is further down the field and more private than the other larger campsites. The campsite measures about 10 metres wide by 10 metres long. The site is mainly sunny but has shade sometimes during the day.

The flushable toilet is about 130 metres walking distance away.

The site is suitable for a family of 6, with 2 tents or a camper-trailer and 1 vehicle. Please enquire if you have a second vehicle as we try to be accommodating and have ample parking elsewhere if needed

We are very Dog friendly but if koalas are about in nearby trees we ask your restrain your dogs so they can't bother the koalas, especially at night when they are moving about between trees. We are in prime koala habitat and have been planting and watering new koala food trees. We like our koalas to feel welcomed and safe.

The Richmond River and boat ramp is a short 5 minute drive for fishing trips. We are pet friendly and children friendly. The Broadwater National Park is only a 7 minute drive, as is the Pacific Highway. The beautiful coastal village of Evans Head with shops, a medical clinic and a patrolled beach is just a 15 minute drive. Nearest townships are Broadwater, Woodburn and Evans Head. We are a 45minutes drive to Byron Bay (head North on the Highway) and 25 minutes to Ballina and also Lismore.

Lots of mozzies, but friendly owner

The site our van was on was cut nicely, and is surrounded by beautiful trees. Though, there was yard junk like a broken down bus, wood and longer grass around. I assume due to the rain there was an excessive amount of mozzies in the area which forced us into our van around 8pm after trying to protect ourselves with bug repellent and the mozzie coils from 4pm. The owner was friendly, and went out of his way to be at the property when we arrived. They seem to be trying to help rebuild trees for the Koalas which is nice to see. I was not a fan of the bathroom arrangements as they were definitely not as clean or nice as it makes out to be on the post. If you are interested in just a quick overnighter and have your own facilities, this property would be good to stay at.

Overall easy to find, track was quite boggy getting in but we were far from other campers on flat surface for our van:)

The photos did not match the site we were provided.

We were located at the back of the property, in the midst of construction waste, a makeshift shelter with a couch, broken down vehicles and a mosquito ridden swamp.

The campsite was not private, with another camper approx. 20m away and in clear view.

We left after 30 minutes, as it was glaring hot with no shade, mosquitos and in a wind tunnel that ripped our annex and broke one of the poles.

Great host, great camp spot, great location. Stayed with my family of 4 with our camper trailer and loved it. Ground was flat, mowed and the firewood fairy kept topping up our supply (thanks Peter!). We've only just left and already talking about another stay.

Beautiful spot next to koala bush (we heard one on the last two nights), close to Evans head and national park beaches. Peter was super friendly and helpful.

It was a pleasure having Chloe stay, like all good campers they only left their foot prints behind.
