Cracknback Campground is the perfect getaway spot to enjoy majestic mountains and pristine wilderness. Perfect location for bass fishing, swimming and canoeing or just chilling out under the stars. The diverse landscape and abundant wildlife are an ever changing backdrop for a perfect weekend or family holiday!
Hot showers and flushing toilets give some creature comforts with basic, large camping sites.
The property is located between Kempsey and Armidale, nestled between working cattle stations and country homesteads. With swimming, paddling, bush walking and 4x4ing, its a great spot to get away from it all.
Fire pits provided but please bring your own wood

Great place for winter camp, hosts were accomodating and friendly. Dogs really loved it.
We had a brilliant night stay at this camp ground. The grass was mowed, the campsites are right on the river, lots of space and the place was so peaceful. The dog loved it too! Would def recommend this campground.

Cracknback was an amazing place to camp! Being able to pick your own site depending on your setup was fantastic. The property was extremely well kept, amenities were clean. Beth and Ben are great friendly hosts. The river does flow much faster than we were aware from photos, so extremely high attention must be paid regarding children. The kids had an absolute blast floating down the river and exploring the area. Dogs happily roam around the campsite, so if you have a dog that may possibly have an aggressive response to dogs around your camp-site, take precautions. Will definitely be back!
Great stay. Close to the river. Dogs loved it. Campfire and guitar. Sky full of stars. Long, slow trip out from Kempsey, but gorgeous scenery. We will be back.
Whilst the road from Armidale in to this site was very sketchy (especially not in a 4x4), Cracknback is an amazing place to stay. Great facilities with solar hot showers and toilets, we’ll maintained sites and a stunning area of natural beauty next to the river. The river current is quite fast so very fun to go town in a tube - kid friendly, they’re not rapids. The hosts, Beth and Ben, and their lovely dogs are so friendly and happy to stop and have a chat. We loved this place, will definitely be back.
