Burroman Flat is roughly 50 acres with 1km of Clyde River frontage. These sites suit smaller groups (please see our other listing for larger sites). The river is permanent fresh water and has two small waterholes at the upstream end and much larger water hole on the downstream end. In between are shallow rapid sections, small pools and endless exploring.

The banks range from moss covered rocks and grassy sections to shady water gum forest, casuarina trees, river peppermint and blue gum trees.

Campsites are spread along a grassy strip that runs approximately 700 meters along the edge of the flat with tracks that go down to the river. The campsites are grass covered in a strip of open forest with native shrubs that add privacy. There is lots of space and shade.

To the eastern side of the camp is the open flat and Boulder Mtn. Burroman Creek forms the boundary on the northern side and meets the river at the upstream water holes. The River Road runs north south on the eastern side of the flat.

The flat itself is ancient, and very high. The last time it flooded over was in the 70's. The flood in February 2020, just after the fires was 17m and didn't cover the whole flat - the area where the camp sites are did not go under water. The tracks down to the river from the camp area are steep - particularly at the southern end. The least steep are at Site 1 and another near where the toilets and water cell are.

This is a very beautiful section of the Clyde River.

Kids 16 yrs and under stay for free!

The flat and camp sites are normally 2WD accessible. When the conditions are wet it becomes challenging and if really wet accessible only by 4WD.

There is Telstra reception (usually a bar or few) on the flat. For Optus and Vodafone it's less reliable - you may get signal - but if not, on the rise at the road just up from the gate is mostly pretty good. Alternatively about 1.5km from the gate going towards the old town is a high point on The River Road that looks south west. This is one of the better spots without climbing a mountain..

Love this place! Plenty of room, lush flat sites and great toilet facilities. Matthew was very helpful with directions. The river gives hours of fun for the kids, even caught a fish! Some great 4WD tracks nearby. We’ll be back.

We loved our time here. Big open land, stunning view out onto the paddocks and short walk to the river. We had a group of 14 and it was ample space, we felt like we were the only ones there. There were 3 portaloos in fine condition and not too far from the campsite. Matt was very helpful with directions and gave us a helpful heads up with the roads. Woodburn Road pretty pot-holey, but if you take it easy you will be a-okay. We would definitely be back!!

Great place. All of us enjoyed our time there.
Toilets were clean and there was a full ibc tank of clean water as well.
There were a few horse-flies around but a bit of Areogard kept them at bay.

We had a wonderful time camping here. The peace and privacy were magic. My 3 boys could explore, run and play to their hearts content. Such a beautiful part of the world. We were also thrilled the nearby berry farm was open and picked blueberries and strawberries followed by blueberry ice cream.

Loved it! Perfect spot on the river, massive site and couldn’t even see any other campers. Grass was great, and Matt the host was super helpful. Unreal!

Absolutely fantastic.

My wife and I took our 4 kids ranging from 15 down to 7 and they all really enjoyed the peace and quiet, the swimming in the river and the wild life.

Matthew was a fantastic host and gave us a lot of insight with the local history along with helping us out with firewood.

We will definately be coming back but for a much longer stay - it is such a relaxing place to visit!

There are two campsites which Matthew alternates campers between. We camped at Burromans Flat. There are 8 large sites close to the river. Heaps of privacy and shady sites amongst large trees. Sites are well spaced out. Can’t see river from campsites but short walk to nice swimming holes near campsite 1 and campsite 6. If you’re brave you can float down the river on a raft or blow up ring! Shallow Crossing is a short drive away from the site which is a great swimming spot.
