Burroman Flat is roughly 50 acres with 1km of Clyde River frontage. These sites suit smaller groups (please see our other listing for larger sites). Burroman Flat is roughly 50 acres with 1km of Clyde River frontage. These sites suit smaller groups (please see our other listing for larger sites). The river is permanent fresh water and has two small waterholes at the upstream end and much larger water hole on the downstream end. In between are shallow rapid sections, small pools and endless exploring.

The banks range from moss covered rocks and grassy sections to shady water gum forest, casuarina trees, river peppermint and blue gum trees.

Campsites are spread along a grassy strip that runs approximately 700 meters along the edge of the flat with tracks that go down to the river. The campsites are grass covered in a strip of open forest with native shrubs that add privacy. There is lots of space and shade.

To the eastern side of the camp is the open flat and Boulder Mtn. Burroman Creek forms the boundary on the northern side and meets the river at the upstream water holes. The River Road runs north south on the eastern side of the flat.

The flat itself is ancient, and very high. The last time it flooded over was in the 70's. The flood in February 2020, just after the fires was 17m and didn't cover the whole flat - the area where the camp sites are did not go under water. The tracks down to the river from the camp area are steep - particularly at the southern end. The least steep are at Site 1 and another near where the toilets and water cell are.

This is a very beautiful section of the Clyde River.

Kids 16 yrs and under stay for free!

The flat and camp sites are 2WD accessible.

There is Telstra reception (usually a bar or few) on the flat. For Optus and Vodafone it's less reliable - you may get signal - but if not, on the rise at the road just up from the gate is mostly pretty good. Alternatively about 1.5km from the gate going towards the old town is a high point on The River Road that looks south west. This is one of the better spots without climbing a mountain..

Wonderful to stay here over the Australia Day long weekend plus some. River was flowing nicely and clear for the most part. Essentially spent the whole time playing, eating and relaxing by the two different river access points. Fellow campers were respectful and there is decent space between sites. Really, really appreciated that you could collect dead wood for your fire.

Bring water shoes for the river and ear plugs for the cicadas - at some points they were deafening on the 40 degree day but they did wean off eventually. We took a 2wd van and made it in and out with some care. Was raining on the way back so some spots had me a little concerned but we were fine and the majority of the dirt road was actually very good.

We stayed at Burroman Flat for two nights. The directions to the property were clear, and Matthew was a really kind and helpful host. The campsite itself was well shaded, and there was plenty of firewood to be collected nearby (as well as some Matthew had left at the camp). The portaloos were clean, and there was potable water available which made everything a lot easier for us.

This is such a beautiful property. There's plenty of exploring to be done around the property, whether it's finding wombat holes or walking along the riverbank. The river was clean and there were easy access paths down to the water. Our only regret was not having a kayak with us because it would've been really fun to go through some rapid parts of the river.

All in all we had a fantastic time and would love to return someday. Thanks Matthew!

Fantastic huge open space and would've been a great swim in sunny weather. Great soft ground and endless wood.

What a beautiful spot by the river. The cicadas were piercing at times but Matt left us a couple of ear plugs and they quietened down by bedtime.

Lovely spot, far enough from other campers and with bush in between such that there was sufficient visual/audio privacy and several spots by the lake/field to hang out and lots of kindling/firewood around.

Beautiful site with very large separated pitches. Plenty of dead wood, so the kids loved the camp fire. Portaloos were new and well kept, and tank water was available. There are two great swimming holes that are clean and safe for the kids. Just be advised that if you approach from the south that 'Shallow crossing' is often not shallow enough for a sedan (city car)! It is also only about 35mins from the nearest beach. Our top pick was Mollymook (45mins). We enjoyed our stay and Matthew was very helpful.

Lots of space to spread out and plenty of trees for shade and privacy from other groups. The river was a bit further from the campsite than we expected but there were a couple of good, well-marked tracks to get down. The kids had lots of fun swimming and playing in the river and roasting marshmallows on the campfire. We all really enjoyed our time at Burroman Flat.

What an absolute treasure this place is! Just beautiful. The camp sites are excellent with plenty of space, plenty of shade and just the right amount of sun. Fire wood and kindling everywhere, even in the rain. The ammenities are great - clean and tidy. The river is great fun for a rapid float.
Matt was helpful, friendly and the perfect host.
If I could give 10 stars I would.

Very quiet and private. Good toilets and fresh drinking water tanks. Camp fire at night, cooling off in the river. For us less than an hour fro home so we will visit again for sure.
